I'm addicted... (1 Viewer)

Yes, 99.5% of the viral meme stuff is just plain dumb, but within the cluster bomb of crap there are usually a handful of gems that are worth the trouble. Yes, I thought the stuff like planking was just plain stupid.. but I have softened my disdain for these stupid phenomenons and will just allow myself to enjoy the few that stand out rather than continue to tell people to get off my lawn.

Seems there are just as many videos in the counter-meme as in the meme.

I think that these memes are worse than that. At least in a group of friends it's referential humor (which I hold to be one of the lowest forms of humor, but that's neither here nor there). With the memes, it's literally just the self-perpetuating thing that goes on and on and on and on for no other reason than someone saw someone else do it.

Remember last year when everyone was making videos for Call Me Maybe? 99% of those weren't even trying to do anything funny, they were just people who said "Oh hey, other people made a Call Me Maybe video so I should, too." It's so weird. I don't understand it. I get it if you're doing your own spin or doing something original. But simply replicating what you've already seen except with people you know is dumb and serves no purpose.

I am crosswatt, and I support this message.
