Sad news. 😢

I didn’t really know him but hung out with him a couple of times - we have many mutual friends. Lots of broken hearted people in NOLA tonight.

Ugh... I still can't wrap my head around this, thank you everyone for your kind words, it really means a lot to me and I truly appreciate it...
Sorry to hear about your loss. Mourning isn't pleasant, but it's part of life unfortunately.

What was your favorite memory of your friend?

My good friend, fraternity brother, and owner of Charlie's Steakhouse in NOLA was found dead this AM, he was only 49... I'm totally gutted right now...
I met him a few times through a friend of mine that knew him well. Seemed like a really good guy and my friend, who is also in shock about the news, spoke very highly of him. Sorry for your loss.

It may or may not involve me being found passed out in a sand trap on Audubon's golf course by him and a mutual friend after a Crescent City Classic when they were playing golf when I was in college. I along w/ some of my esteemed and upstanding brothers had may or not been dutifully tending to the beer needs of the CCC runners at the end of the race at The Fly serving them cold frosty beverages from large cans loaded in trucks, 40 large cans to a truck. We may or may not have gotten there at 7:30 am to set up and by 11 am were slightly altered, and I may or may not have decided to walk back to my fraternity house on Freret via Audubon's golf course with a 1 gallon water jug filled w/ beer in each hand that were called love jugs with 2 of my compatriots. I allegedly stumbled and fell into said sandtrap and yelled, 'Go on without me!', to which my comrades complied. I may have napped till Matt landed a ball in said trap where I was laying, and he and our mutual friend loaded me into their golf cart and drove me to the house.

He's the one who got us the fraternity's philanthropy w/ the CCC a few yrs before and also started Drunken Santas in NOLA as well... too many stories lol... The man was a legend...

Me mad mugging on the right, Matt on the left during a summer Drunken Santas stint...
