I'm interested in duck hunting the Salvador wma. I only have waders and no boat so do I need to worry about gators? (1 Viewer)

I grew up duck hunting central Mississippi and recently moved to new Orleans. I have been planning to duck hunt the Salvador wma with no boat. Today someone mentioned the gator population and recommended I get a boat. Thoughts? Or recommendations for better spots?

Also, I only have a car. Can I access salvadOr any other wma without a truck?

You definitely need a boat, not so much for the gators, but just to access the area.....

I called around and asked the wardens for both Salvador and Maurepas. They all said I will need a boat. I'm just interested in hunting duck or deer within a two hours drive of New Orleans. Any recommendations?
