Once upon a time, the people of the United States had a motto, it was “In God we trust”. It is on our currency, on our government buildings, and was in our hearts. It seems more and more these days we have forgotten that important little sentence. More and more we are depending on the government for guidance to every little problem we have. In fact, we are letting the ACLU and the courts take God out of our lives, at a rapid pace. They started with our children, with no prayer in school and as I'm writing this opinion piece, the ACLU is fighting very hard to remove the crosses from the Arlington Cemetery in Washington, as well as, “In God We Trust” from our currency and federal
buildings.
Our forefathers knew it well. They trusted God to get them across an ocean on sail boats
smaller than Nancy Pelosi's yacht. They came to a new promised land to start a new life where they could worship God however they wished, without persecution. They came to America to escape government intrusion into their lives, as well as taxation without representation. They were willing to die, and in some cases, lose everything they had for freedom. I wonder what they would think of the greatest county in the history of the world , as it is now? A giant nanny state. A far cry from the rugged individuals who did not need or want government to take care of them, because they depended and trusted in God and the sweat of their own brow.
In this country right now, estimates are 40% - 60% of Americans and illegal aliens are receiving some sort of government help. Once the country has nationalized health care, it will be 100% of the people. Don't be fooled, once the government gets their foot in the door, it will become a single-payer, nationalized health care system. And, remember, “he who writes the checks, get to make the rules”. I don't want Dick Durbin deciding whether I can have the treatment I might need. I want the freedom to make my own health care decisions.
It seems that everything is a crisis these days and there is no time to study the problem before we just write these huge, expensive laws and regulations to try and fix it. No time is allowed to try different solutions, do pilot programs in individual states, allowing time to study if it's effective and cost efficient. No, they have to pass it right now, or the whole country will implode. Just like the stimulus package passed last year. It had to get done right then or unemployment would rise above 8%, they didn't even have time to read the bill before they voted on it. If it was so important, why have they spent less than 10% of it, while unemployment reaches 9.8% at last count? This government wants to keep the people under their thumbs, so that they can gain power over us and therefore easily control us.
Communism and Tyranny are what's normal in the history of the world, it is freedom that is different. It is freedom that has enabled us to become the greatest country in history. If we remain on the track we are traveling, freedom will not continue. It cannot continue. And hundreds of thousands of soldiers will have died in vain, fighting to protect that God given, inalienable right to freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
I'm quite sure there are millions of small businesses who would love to hire more people, but
cannot, due to all of the taxes that go along with each employee. I read that one of the Health Care bills has a provision stating businesses would have to provide insurance for their employees, or pay big fines. Small businesses just cannot afford all of these fees and still make profit enough to stay afloat. Between federal, state, and local taxes, they already pay close to 50% to some form of government, so they can waste it on programs like “Cash for Clunkers”.
The government cannot solve all of our problems and we shouldn't trust them enough to let
them try. I think $3 Trillion is more than enough for Washington to do what they were put in power to do, yet they will spend $1.7 Trillion above that budget, hurling us into the largest deficit in American history. A bill our kids and grand kids will never be able to overcome. I think it's time, as a country, we turn back to trusting in God, not bureaucrats who care more about keeping their jobs than doing
what is right.
