Inflation here? gas/grocery prices just continue to climb (8 Viewers)

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Federal Reserve creating a ton of new money.

Its not the root cause. Im sure that money creation plays a role.

but at the end of the day, the consumer, doesnt see the "new money" as the issue.

I just quoted an HVAC client- 2019 Chevy 2500 - needing $1,000,000 CSL ( liability limit ) for contractual obligation. Has current coverage that just jumped to $7100 annual. The NEXT BEST PRICE? $8333 annual.

Now, thats ONE PICK UP TRUCK he uses in business to come to your home to repair/install. First, that cost is double what it was a mere 3 years ago. I could write that at $4400.

Now you start to pinch this same guy at the pump, at the grocery, at the supply house - and that $7100 looks like $9000. So what does he do? Well when you call him to come look at your AC, instead of $95 service charge, its $125. So you call another. then another til you find the guy willing to do for $95 ( which is what you are used to paying )
Meantime he just lost your business. Repeat this 4-6 times a day. Now his revenue is dropping because of price point.

It all sno-balls.

Trucking is even worse. I dont know how LA based trucking companies/operators even make a living. And thats JUST INSURANCE costs- nothing else that affects their ability to earn a living.

i paid $91 for a 6 quart oil change

passed on the brake fluid replace that was offered for another $80

ok but what was it say last time you went?

I know Synthetic is always high- i have to get mine soon and i always go with Magnatec - ill be interested to see what its up from normal $65~

Went with a Syn-blend change a few weeks ago, and it was $68ish for 6qts and filter.

If I had a convenient and proper way to dispose of the old oil and filter, I might consider going back to changing it myself.

Autozone recycles old oil.

I've considered it too but mostly because the way my car is built, it's too low for some of the oil change places.

But, I think it the end, it might be more expensive to have all the equipment you need and buy the oil and filter retail than to just have someone else do it. Plus, I suspect that Autozone or Walmart would charge a fee for taking your oil to recycle.

No fee, they sell the old oil.

my neighbor put home on market 2 weeks ago - listed at $535,000 or $225/sq ft. abt 6 days later dropped to $515,000 or $216/sq ft. wife just texted sold over weekend at $515,000.

He build just before we did in 2019. With land, my home built for $159/sq ft, so he was probably somewhere close to mine.

In just 2 years, the home price appreciated 30%?? thats simply insane and unsustainable.

But the real issue is someone just bought this home at $216/sq ft. As we all know, home prices cycle- so in a year or two, it will probably be closer to $185-200 sq ft. But the problem now is this homeowner is upside down. And if the economy turns sour, depending on his industry/income, it may be too much and they are now forced into foreclosure.

Just another aspect of all this.

crazy.
