Ingram and Hightower (1 Viewer)

Well because the guy with who averaged 3.8 per carry got 8 more carries than the guy who averaged 10.5 and broke a 75 yarder in the 2nd quarter.

Fumbles in back to back games tends to keep you in the doghouse for a little while. I think coach has made his point.

I thought this was a good picture. Game ball to Ingram.

I was actually very disappointed with the coaching staff yesterday when, at the end of the game, they left Ingram in. They should've put Hightower in so we could have 2 running backs with 100+ yards in the same game. He only needed another 13 yards.

What game were you watching? I seem to recall stating to my wife, who was wondering why Hightower was getting so many touches late, that they're probably trying to get him his 100 yards.

They did exactly what you described; it just didn't work out.

Hightower with more carries than Ingram again. Embarrassing.

Well as I told my friends yesterday let the numbers present themselves. Sometimes the haters/wanna be scouts just have to see for themselves how wrong they are.

The eye testers still tell themselves Hightower is better. Because the Eye test has zero biased involved apparently. The eye test told them Ingram is better as a back up...

They like the roles the two played yesterday. You know how the Backup is always "better" so we should be starting the back up over Mark, quite frankly the they only remember that one big play that supports their bias and not the other 10 mediocre to poor plays. This happened with Khiry all the time. Nor did they notice Mark doing his job as the personal protector every other down.

It's funny now that Mark was in the back up role, "yeah lets leave him in the backup role", even though he has been averaging over 4 yards per carry this season prior to yesterday's game.

He did catch it, right?

Just kidding, of course. Ingram is not a fumbler, and is a pretty darn good receiver.

49ers have the worst run defense in the league. Tbh this wasn't a good game to see who should start because both did so well and we know they aren't equal runners since one is a fumble machine who lacks explosiveness (besides the long td which ive never seen him do before) and one who is consistent every play. Do you prefer consistency in hightower or a shaky back in ingram with signs of good running but doesn't and won't have that extra power.

Hightower has been about 2 inches from having 2 separate fumbles AFTER Mark Ingram was placed in the Backup role. Ingram had a 70 yarder last season. Hightower had been stuffed in the backfield on a pretty equal percentage of plays. Try again, eye tester.

I agree kc. It's amazing how the haters are still trying to put him down. Anyone who thinks Hightower was the better runner yesterday should just hand in their fan card, because you clearly have no clue what you're watching.

If their stat lines were flipped, I don't think you would be saying "they both did so well". Ingram would have been crushed if he turned in a 3.8 yards per carry game against this defense like Hightower did. But since it worked out the way it did, they both did well and it's a wash? Ingram is a "fumble machine" and not as consistent as Hightower?

Ingram has earned some criticism (and the benching) this season, but a lot of people have gone way overboard with the negative remarks and assessment of his play, and could stand to give a little more credit when it is due.

It's not like we have to pit Ingram against Hightower anyway.

And 75 yard touchdown runs usually take you out of the doghouse. Usually. But yet, next drive after that run, we got Hightower running for 3 yards and falling down again.

Which one is the fumble machine?

Hightower through 5.5 seasons = 10 fumbles
Ingram through 5.5 seasons = 5 fumbles

Also, the "long td which ive never seen him do before" happened just last season. Ingram broke a 70 yarder in the 1st quarter againt the Redskins. I remember because he broke that long run and then our head coach sat him on the bench for the next 2 quarter while we tried to pass our way back into the game. Ingram finished with a whopping 5 carries that game. Hightower had 11 for 46.

It's ok, buddy, I remember my 1st year as a Saints fan.

Reading this and looking at your avatar is hilarious!

Big time. People would be crying foul. "Why isn't hightower starting?"

Im with Ingram on this one, "What the **** is wrong with these *****s?"

Got out of here with that crap!! Ingram has fumbled 5 times in his entire career so that hardly qualifies him as a fumbling machine!!

But I guess it's easier for people to pound their chest and just make stuff up!!

Do yourself a favor and think about what you're saying before you say it!!

The funny part is, if Hightower and Ingram's stats from Sunday were flipped, many people here would want Ingram to never see the field again.
