Ingram vs Hightower (1 Viewer)

speaking strictly on the running aspect, they are about the same with the edge going to Hightower. But add in pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield and the winner is Ingram. I didn't like the pick when it happened. Two firsts for a Bama guy? My Tiger blood didn't like that. But he has impressed me as of late. He caught 50 passes last year. That's pretty good to me. taking into account that the Saints were going up against the backups for the Ravens last night, they seemed to run the ball better overall. I always heard that to cure offensive line woes you just run the ball.

Ingram = 7.0 YPC as well as caught a 7 yard pass last night.

Hightower = 3.0 YPC and -6 yards receiving last night.

Ingram played with the starting Oline. Hightower not so much.

The way our Oline played last night after the starters went out was probably one of the worst O-line performances I have ever seen. I'm shocked that Hightower's YPC was that high.

Again, I'm glad we have both.

Hightower is not better. Ingram will be the starter, and will be one of the upper tier backs in the league. He just needs to stay healthy.

Right. Don't get me wrong, Hightower runs hard. I really like him. But He's not quite on Ingram's level. I think people forget what Ingram can do because we haven't seen a whole lot if him in preseason, mistaking playing time for talent.

Anyone else notice Cadet didn't even play last night announcers were saying it they said not sure what to make of that

Igram, Spiller, Lasco, cut Cadet/Hightower/Murphy. I doubt any of them makes it to a 53, we can always pick one of them back up. Lasco seems to be a solid combination of Ingram and Spiller. He's got some quickness to him and he seems to be willing to take a hit. Reminds me of PT actually. Let someone with better hands learn to return. Murphy is ok but he's not so much better that he's earned a roster spot just for punt returns.

We will keep Ingram, Hightower, Spiller, and probably Lasco. Murphy will be kept as our return specialist.

I like what I saw from Murphy last night. Solid on a kick return (negated by a penalty) & did decent as a RB with the 2's and 3's.

I'd be surprised if he got cut.

there is no debate in my opinion... plus with Murphy performance yesterday and Lasco being a lock, maybe Hightower is in the bubble, depends what the coaches are looking for. Upside or consistency.

1. Ingram
2. Hightower
3. Spiller
4. Lasco
5. Murphy

or

1. Ingram
2. Spiller
3. Lasco (he can possibly give you what Hightower gave in addition to special teams)
4. Murphy

I like Hightower. He played well for us last year when Ingram was out. Ingram will start. I hope Hightower gets some playing time. I think he is a better power runner. However, it will be difficult to get running backs going with the amount of subbing that Payton likes to do.

Hightower has better vision than Ingram. Ingram also fumbles too often. JMO.

Hightower has 10 fumbles on 619 carries.

Ingram has 3 fumbles on 748 carries.

But hey, this is an anti-Ingram thread. Can't let facts get in the way!

It's just a great example of how poor judges we can be as fans. We get emotionally involved with our untrained perceptions and make absolute proclamations...like Ingram fumbles too much.

we.have.had.this.discussion.every.year.of.Ingram's.career.

Give Ingram a solid OL and watch him have 2,500 all purpose yards.

Ingram is better?!?!

Didn't mark ingram put the ball on the ground during the New England game? And who didn't fumble or had a turn over.

Besides Ingram likes to run hard when his contract is up.
