Due to the NFL playoffs not being an actual tournament, Atlanta and Chicago won't know their divisional-round opponents until both NFC games are completed next week.

For Atlanta, they will play whoever has the lowest seed between the NFC West champ, the Saints, and the Packers. Chicago will play whoever has the lowest seed between the Eagles, the NFC West champ, and the Saints.

So if we win and Green Bay wins, Green Bay will go to Atlanta and we will go to Chicago. But if we win and Philly wins, we will go to Atlanta and Philly will go to Chicago.

This brings us to the aforementioned interesting playoff scenario: Would you rather Philly win so we go to Atlanta for not only an opportunity to end their Super Bowl hopes but also play in a dome where we are most effective. Or would you rather Green Bay win to keep our hopes of an NFC Championship game in New Orleans alive? We would then have to go to Chicago for a chance to atone that awful '06 NFCC debacle, but we'll be playing on that sluggish swamp of a field in the cold.

While I'd love to have another NFCC in the Dome, it's too much of a longshot (both us and Green Bay would have to win 2 straight on the road). And I'd much rather go after the Falcons in our home away from home. And what a matchup that'd be: longtime rivals who have always been cellar dwellers now meet for the 1st time in the playoffs, split their season series, scoring the exact same amount of points in their 2 meetings, and we wouldn't have very far to travel.

Which scenario would YOU rather see?

Good question.

Would I rather have a chance at revenge in tough conditions, or go back to a Dome and beat the team I most hate.

Revenge is great, but it's not like we're playing the same team from 5 years ago.

I think beating the Falcons is much sweeter than beating the Bears. Ergo, I'll take the Falcons and the climate controlled conditions.

I would rather see Green Bay beat Philly. If St.Louis can win tonight that would give us 2 playoff games indoors. Only outdoors game would be in Chicago.

Call me crazy, but I want to go to Chicago. I think if Green Bay gets by Philly, they will go to Atlanta and whack the Falcons.

I will be pumped about either one, but the scenario where we play Green Bay in the Superdome for the NFCCG would be my pick.

I hate the Falcons and the Bears but I feel like we might have a better chance in the Georgia dome in the swamp of soldier field, unless out Oline really steps things up.

I am getting old so my memory isn't what it used to be so correct me if I'm wrong but haven't we ALREADY played Atlanta in the playoffs? Was it after the '92 season and Bobby was our QB?

We did.

And we lost due mainly to poor play by Hebert, some key interceptions he threw to cost us points.

He was the worst in big games.

I'd rather play the Bears in the divisional. We'll have to go to a cold weather site at some point regardless, so that's moot. The Bears are the weaker team, and it leaves open the possibility of that home NFCCG game. If we have to go to Atl, I'd rather face them coming off a game with the Packers then coming off a bye, with a Super Bowl appearence on the line.

1991 season. We finished 11-5 and were division champions, Atlanta was 10-6 but beat us in the last game of the year in ATL to get into the playoffs AND in the playoff game in NO. It SUCKED.

In 1992, we were 12-4 (wild card) and lost to the Eagles in the first round as well. Eric Allen had a couple of picks which prompted us to sign him 2 years later where he proceeded to royally stink for us.

The OP completely ignores the fact that we could very well play at Chicago after playing at Atlanta. Pulling for GB is a no brainer, as Atlanta vs. GB still results in a dome game to end the season. Your preference is basically sacrificing likelihood of getting to the SB for a better chance at making it to the NFCCG.

I want my king cake and eat it too
Play Chicago first then Atlanta
Payback Two Dat style
Let Atlanta almost get to the top of the mountain and throw them off a cliff

I would love nothing more than for us to play GB in the NFCCG in the dome.

I didn't ignore the possibility; I think Philly stands a better chance of knocking off Chicago in Chicago (despite their loss to the Bears earlier this season). I don't like the way we've played in cold weather in the past or this season. I think if we go to Chicago, the cold + their defense will cause a repeat of the '06 NFCC. So I'd rather put 2 games between any possible matchup with them than 1.
