They had Charlie Casserly on last night in a segment with some other people and they were discussing the safety position. Casserly said that it is one of the hardest position to grade in the draft because when you watch an entire game film you only get about 10-12 actual plays where you can grade the players performance. He said that is why so many who are drafted in the later rounds turn out to be stars in the league.<O:p

During the segment they also broke down the two top safeties in the draft. The panel was in agreement that Kenny Phillips had all of the measurables of a great safety and that he talked a hard hitting game. However, when they watched his film he never showed up like that and they all said he had flashes of being great but was very inconsistent. Also, the panel mentioned being from the U was going to hurt him because everyone is going to expect great things out of him early and they might not get it.<O:p

The second safety was DeJaun Morgan. The panel agreed he was a very good talent who was versatile and could play some nickel for you if need be. Said only big concern about him was that he was a one year starter, but teams dismiss that by saying he came out a year early. Some of them mentioned that his upside could be higher than Kenny Phillip's as well.<O:p

The last person they mentioned briefly was the safety from Arkansas St. Tyrell Johnson. I haven't really looked at him that much until today and his measureables are good (5'11'' 207 4.47 forty 27 bench reps) they showed some film from his Texas game this year said he belonged on the field with them. Anyone have any info or seen him play?<O:p

At the end of the discussion the panel said Phillips was probably a bottom of round one talent that would get selected at the top of the second round. <O:p
