My laptop recently started being able to either connect to a wireless network or, if connected, connect to the internet. I've rebooted a couple of times to see if that would correct it.
Is this necessarily a network card that has gone bad or are there other issues to explore before assuming that?
Thank you!

I would say a good step would be to tell your system to forget your network and then add it back again.

Network cards don't fail very often, and network problems are almost always configuration or caused by software like firewalls etc.

Also check your wireless router to see if it has a small number of IP addresses to give to devices. If you have a lot of wireless devices in your house, it may have run out of IP addresses to give to devices. There should be a router setting for DHCP that will show the range of addresses it has to give out.

Of course your Internet Service Provider could also be the culprit if none of your devices are connecting.
