Is #10 too early to choose the cb cromartie? (1 Viewer)

10 would be a reach for Cromartie but not for a guy like MCKlevin or Jenkins. I think that Cromartie has played himself into the 1st round of the draft though this week.

I don't get all of this McKelvin love. Cromartie is the real deal.

Look, its a reach to take someone from a smaller school so early. So what if that person has shown more than anyone else you have thought about drafting at that spot. If you take him, Mel Kiper will call you stupid, and therefore, it must be true! Do not deviate, make your own choices, and think outside of the box, only losers like the Patriots do that!

Why gamble on Cromartie in the first when you could have a proven talent like Jonathan Sullivan?

I can't recall EVER seeing a player in a D-1AA school go in the first. People get clouded judgment on players cause of what they see in practice. Shoot David looked good in practice. lol Also our team has a dire need for a cb so any bright spot u see on a prospect. You are going to compare that to what we have now. His cousin is a rising star in the pro's don't make him one. U have to look at the whole make-up of a season. IMO i going to go for a more proven product in the first cause u know, Taliq,Mckelvin, and Jenkins have played and performed well against elite talent on a weekly basis. Not saying that this kid want be as good or better. But i look at those guys at the earliest second rd cause u invest so much in 1st rd.

Jerry Rice and steve mcnair 3rd pick off the top of my head. but i do agree that 10 would be too early. he's always been great though. just never got to see him against better talent. i have him as my third behind mckelvin and jenkins

:worthy: WoW! omg someone finally gets it! when will people relize that the only sure thing about the draft is that there is no sure thing.

i like the kid, and if our front office thinks hes a gamer the school he went to wont matter. i think we might actually draft this guy at the #10 if he continues to impress.

The difference between the 10th pick and the 20th pick isn't as big as you may think. Screw trading down; if you think he could be a true shut down corner, you take him rather than risk that someone else thinks the same thing and takes him before you get the chance.

now in 1st round about #20 after the combine he will be 10-15. we might be able to drop a little and still get him, if dorsey or ellis is gone.

Yep, I found a mock that has him listed even higher. A good combine may put him at #10. I pray that DRC has some fans in the Saints scouting department. He's definitely cracked the 1st round now:

Maybe you are too young to recall it but I remember a guy by the name of Terry Bradshaw who was the 1st. pick in 1970 from then 1-AA La. Tech. I think that worked out well for the Steelers.

I found this and thought I might share. Most years appararantly Deion Sanders picks a player entering the draft to work out with. The most recent was Devin Hester.
He has done it again this year with Cromartie.

Also, on another forum, I read someone with TSU season tickets said something along the lines of "He runs low 4.3s everytime, and can 'jump out of the gym"

Nice find Z. I remember the announcers during the Senior Bowl telecast talking about how highly regarded Deion holds DRC.

4.3 is fast.....
