It’s kinda sneaky - you don’t think about it. But damn, April’s got it going on.

We begin the month with the Final Four - a weekend that is up there with the NFL divisional round and conference championship round when it comes to sports drama. It’s awesome.

But even as the NCAA champ cuts the nets down, April is just getting going. Next, the NHL and NBA playoffs get going with multiple rounds of best of seven series - with games filling nearly every night for the rest of the month. You will not be let down if you tune into to hockey playoffs, and the NBA doesn’t even start to get good until April. The sheer volume of games and drama the NHL and NBA playoffs provide in unmatched.

As a singular event, however, the Masters easily ranks up there as elite, must-see sports viewing. It’s just outstanding, and it’s always in April.

But wait, there’s more! The drama of the late stages of soccer’s Champions League is just awesome and even somewhat under appreciated in the US. The World Cup has all of its shine but the Champion’s League is where you get to see the world’s best working their day jobs for tens of millions of dollars and without the roster limitations that come in international play. Add the final weeks of the European domestic league title hunts and even though the hardware is all awarded in May, April has more action.

Even America’s summer and fall sports make sure to get in on the April action. Baseball’s opening day is typically in April (not this year) and you could make the argument that opening day is more exciting than anything else in baseball that happens before September.

And of course the NFL draft is in April - and though it’s not the same as NFL games, it’s as interesting and, at times, dramatic as anything in sports that doesn’t happen on a field or court.

Who’s with me?

Any month without an NFL or NCAA football game cannot be the greatest

The draft is both man.

I hear you. But the volume of great, top level sports in April is awesome.

I'm there. It's a super fun month of sports for sure. Maybe not the top singular sports moments, but for overall quality events...it's way up there.
