On most teams a LB is the leader of a team, posssibly a safety i.e Colts.
We obviously don't have a "hard attitude get your team pumped" LB.
The leaders of our D, I believe, are Smith, Grant and McKenzie. None seem to have the attitude of a Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher.
This leads to the pick up of a LB in the draft. But teams who had their D led by a rookie LB (recently) didn't make the playoffs; Texans (Demeco Ryans), Packers (AJ Hawk), Lions (Ernie Sims) and 49ers (Patrick Willis).
So this leads to a signing of Zack Thomas/Lance Briggs type LB, who all (from what I'm aware) bring a leadership attitude.
Your opinion?
