Is there a chance for 16-0? (1 Viewer)

I'll put it this way. This Saints team can play with anyone in the league. I think it's very hard to ever have a clear cut "best" team in the NFL... and I think there's a lot of teams that would split games 50/50 no matter how many times they played.

There is always a chance... but I wouldn't count on it. Let downs are almost inevitable. A bad week of practice, off-field distractions (ever been distracted at work? These guys are human, too), etc. Then you have injuries, which we're already seeing and will continue to see as the season progresses. The "big one" could be right around the corner for all we know.

If the Saints were able to consistently peak out and play complete games from now until week 17... and suffer no significant injury setbacks... they could beat every team. They are that good, IMO.

Who cares? We need to win our division and get homefield advantage in the playoffs. A perfect record doesn't matter. Look what happened to the Pats 2 years ago.

Hah.

If you want to put it into mathematical terms, assume we have a 70% chance of winning EVERY WEEK. This is really, really high. The cumulative probability of winning the next 13 games when it's a 70% probability of winning each one is (0.7)^13 = 0.97%. So a less than 1% chance, being generous.

If it makes you feel better, prior to week one with those same odds on a weekly basis, the probability was only 0.33%. So we're making progress!

There is a chance. There always is a chance. But it is a long season. We have to get past the New York Jets. Then Giants. Then Dolphins. Then Falcons and so on and so forth. It won't be easy. And injuries can always change anything. Beyond injuries, there are the occasional letdowns. Finally, if the Saints are, say, sitting at 12-0 going into the final month of the season, you can bet your bottom dollar Atlanta, Tampa and Carolina--our arch-rivals who are all on the schedule for the final month of the season--will do everything in their power to thwart our efforts. I'll admit, I have thought about it too though more in a casual way. For me, if we could become the first team to go 16-0, and win the Superbowl, that would be great given our tortured history. But if we can just make the playoffs and win the Superbowl, I would be satisfied having not won every single game. In the end, winning the Superbowl is all that counts. It does not matter how many games you win to get there. That's only for style points!

Let's take it one step at a time. There are still 13 games to go, let's just get through this week.

After all it's only week 3, it's premature to have any hope for 16-0.

God, I hate these kinds of threads.

But this has been discussed before, blah, blah, blah

Touche'

Mathematically speaking. Each game we have a 50% chance of winning. We have 13 games left. Therefore, after 4 games we have 50% chance of being 4-0. After 5 games, a 25% chance of being 5-0. BLah blah blah. So in all actuallity, we have a 0.01% chance of going 16-0. I'd like to think our chances are slightly better than that!!

Take into consideration this formula assumes all teams are equal.

If the Saints were able to consistently peak out and play complete games from now until week 17... and suffer no significant injury setbacks... they could beat every team. They are that good, IMO.

We were 2-3 defensive stops a game from being this good last year.

Think about that for a second.
Im not saying its going to happen. I dont even think it will.
But is there a chance?

Even a 5% chance?

I think it could happen

Sure ,but I still enter the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes so what do I know.

I'll take 4-0 and be happy for this week...

Is there a chance to go 16-0...SURE...as they say...anythings possible...
