This is courtesy of Fox sports website. Did Brees really account for $22 mil of the cap money for '07? I thought his deal was that much in total.

Who the heck is Artose Pinner making $500k??

Brees was given his $12 million roster bonus this year, which was all added to his base salary and prorated signing bonus to come up with his cap figure. Very good deal for Brees and the Saints. His cap figure goes down dramatically from now on.

He picked us over the Dolphins because of the guaranteed money we offered him over the first two seasons.

I think Drew is worth every penny.

And, question here, the OP mentioned Artose Pinner. We signed him as a free agent before the Bears game because Deuce, Reggie and Steck all couldn't play, along with another RB, (Barclay?). I may be wrong, but I think Barclay? got a few carries, along with returning kicks. IIRC Pinner didn't even touch the ball. I'm not familiar with the salary aspect of the game, but did Pinner just stand on the sidelines, watch the Bears beat us, and collect a $500 000 check?

No he gets a pro-rated portion of that salary. I think they include preseason in that figure, so it's whatever 1/20th (16 games + 4 preseason) of $500k would be since he only played in one game.

$25,000. Still not bad for a day on the sidelines.

i hope Brees is kicking down some cash to Colston, Jahri Evans and Will Smith to keep them happy...WOW, those 3 are way underpaid in comparison to the players clocking in over 1mill a season...

Simmons and Thomas need to be cut ASAP, but I've known that for months. Deuce needs to restructure or risk being cut also.

Also notice that David is only due 430,000 dollars. We've already paid for the guy, theres zero reason to cut him as some want.

And Kevin Houser is making more than Will Smith.
I don't know if we will ever know about it or not, but I'd say some of those guys are seriously unhappy about being so underpaid.
Colston and Evans need tied down for 6+ year deals ASAP, and I'd say we let Smith play the extra year out and see what happens.

Nah. They are aware of how NFL contracts work. Colston will get a huge signing bonus and all will be well. Same for Evans.

Smith has already collected a big payday, and is just cleaing up the scraps left on the last year of his contract. He knows he'll get paid soon.
