I just read that the Panthers will be down another corner, so I am wondering if we will attack vertically?

I feel if we run Sticks or Out routes, their LBs are quick and athletic enough to cover and make INTs.

The Falcons had success against them and stayed away from their LBs for the most part.

I say we open with the pass to open up the run. Kinda like what LSU did vs. Missouri.

Their Dline has struggled. The interior as well as the edge rush has been virtually non existent. This would be a good week for them to put it all together or it could be a continued trend. Johnson is hurt, Kony Ealy hasn't been spectacular and their two DT's are having subpar years. Because they are zone dependent a lot of their success depends on the success of the dline...similar to ours. As a D-coordinator you have to wonder will McDermott blitz and risk leaving his 3 new CB's out on an island or will he play it safe and hope the Dline picks it up this game because they need a win.

We'll see

It'll probably boil down to see if they respect the Saints receivers or go with what they've done in the past. I believe we'll definitely see some blitzes, because we haven't done well against the blitz this year; especially on 3rd down.

The Panthers are going to play two high safeties similar to San Diego. They wii give up a lot of passing yards but most will likely be short to intermediate. I wouldn't expect a lot of fireworks downfield.

That's not a bad idea. It would put pressure on Carolina's offense to score, which could play into our hands defensively.
Only problem will be TOP, but if we are scoring points nonstop. Should be a no-brainer tactic.

I think for us to bring the vertical passing game back we need 1 more speed WR and a Bush/Sproles satellite back. I have said this before but IMO what our offense needs most to be as dominant as it once was is a stud satellite back. It presents a completely different element for defenses to defend and changes our offense. Never allows defenses to keep 2 safeties deep and usually leaves a seam open for Brees to find. Having this threat also gives Brees an instant read of the defense often before the snap but if Brees immediately knows the coverage once the ball is snapped. Having a stud here opens up the field and helps us in so many different areas.

Would love to grab Christian McCaffrey in the late 1st or early 2nd. Yea the defense and OLine have big needs but a satellite back IMO is just as important for our offense to operate at its full potential. We can't ignore this position for another year and best way to address it is in this years draft with a few studs coming out this year. Dalvin Cook FSU and Christian McCaffrey Stanford are my top 2 targets for this position and landing one of them will completely change our offense. If we can find that RB and another speed WR like Devery/Meachem then watch out because our offense would be absolutely dangerous.

I agree, we need those type of weapons to be dynamic again. We had a chance to add some pieces, but we chose not to.

For this game, if Carolina gives us 1 on 1 looks, we need to take them. I believe it'll hurt us if we keep the routes near their linebackers.

Yea if anything stay away from their LBs haha. This should be a game we come out and be aggressive with the vertical passing game though. It makes sense to use this game to try and get something going in this area gaining confidence and build off it.
