It Really Happened: U.S. Army attacked UFO in Los Angeles in 1942 (1 Viewer)

Cover up, There ie no way That a balloon with fabric can withstand 1,440 shell burst around it and dissapear only to return again. The film clearly shows its stationary as the shells explode around it. If houses were damaged by shrapnel on the ground why wouldnt a supposed balloon be damaged at point blank range?

Because the extremely poorly trained gun crews missed?

See the sky is three-dimensional. It's not enough to have the gun pointed at the balloon. The shell has to actually explode at the appropiate height/distance.

I'm just curious, you try to use logic to dismiss the offered explanation, but then don't apply that same razor sharp logic to why would an Alien spacecraft be flying in visible sight at less then 200 MPH while getting shot at and make zero efforts whatsoever to communicate with anyone.

Do we know what kind of fuse was used in the AA rounds? If they were proximity fuses, they would need to be close.

Edit - It looks like the proximity fuse had not been developed or implemented yet.

It was a drone and they were probing our defenses. :dunno:

From what I read about those times, Navy blimps were getting free and floating away on their own all the time. US blimps contained non-flamable helium. Direct hits on a blimp will not neccesarily knock it out of the sky. If the hits come from underneath and leave pock marked holes most of the helium will stay in the blimp.

Well, they didn't shoot it down. Is that because of the craft's defenses? If so, why care how fast you're going when nothing is taking you down anyway?

So...what? They were slowing down to look out the window at us?

Are the visitors from space that we're getting the equivalent of delinquent 15 year old teenagers in their first car? Maybe the aliens were mooning us :covri:

I'll use the same response to this as to "why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?" We, in our limited understanding, cannot presume to know the motivations of a far superior intellectual being.

I thought this event was confirmed as John Belushi in a fighter plane trying to stop the Japanese from attacking Horrywood.
