We all can talk bout mock drafts, ifs and buts etc but its in the management's hands afterall ..... this management has made major mistakes by sticking with guys like SHANLE, ELLIS, HARPER etc .... and its evident how these poor decisions have cost us the seasons ...... the 9ers loss in the playoffs still haunts me ..... Its time Loomis and Payton make some tough decisions and release all these overpaid mediocre defenders in our team ..

You have to go deeper! It's imperative to understand that releasing free agents is actually a matter of mental distress. Players restless souls cannot get peace and travel towards the soothing light called the Free Agency if past memories of a great team like The Saints are not properly erased. Every time a player is bound to enter Free Agency, Loomis, Payton and the best voodoo priest in the whole New Orleans must gather together and Summon the spirit of Breesus. Together they can input suggestions upon the player and after some time the players tormented soul shall gain real freedom. This is what it means to release a free agent. If this isn't done properly, the player may stay on the roster eating more and more cap space every year, or if everything goes well he only becomes a restricted free agent, a friendly spirit with possibly some trade value.

I wish I could give this more than one red thumb. In order to release players, you need to fill the spot with better players. I agree that some of the names mentioned haven't panned out as well as hoped, but who was out there to replace them? This is the question Pat Kirwan, who used to work in player acquisition for an NFL team (forget which), always puts to callers on NFL Radio who want to get rid of player X, who isn't the best at his position, but better than a lot of guys.

There are just so many "top" players at any given position, and the Saints can't get them all. Keep in mind that Loomis and Payton also have put together one of the most prolific offenses in league history.

I am not saying this defense doesn't need a few more playmakers; of course it does. However, blaming Loomis and Payton for all of it is short-sighted at best.

Jeez, where do you start with this?

What was that thing we won 3 years ago? Oh yeah, the Super Bowl. You think Loomis and Payton had a little to do with that?

You can't hit a homer every time you swing, yet people like you are never pleased.

Not true. Loomis relies heavily on sr.com opinions when it comes to decision making.
