Jameis threw 2 bad picks.

So did Lamar Jackson.

Mahomes threw a " Jameis " like interception himself.

Joe Burrow threw 3 picks. Rough day.

Kyler Murray has 3 in 2 games. He's an early MVP favorite right now.

Aaron Rodgers threw 2 to us ! He's the reigning MVP.

Matt Ryan

Every NFL QB can hit an open guy streaking downfield. Thats not the determining factor whether a QB will be successful or not.

1. Were they afforded adequate protection ?
2. Are we running the ball well enough for playaction to be effective ?
3. Are we routinely staying on schedule down and distance ?
4. Are targets getting open enough to warrant a pass their way ?
5. Is scheme / playcalling maximizing the QBs strengths?

We failed miserably at all 5 today and fell behind quickly.

Our QB tried his best to be Bruce Wayne quite a few times. He was taking sacks and getting popped.

In his mind , he probably rationalized it was Batman time just by the amount of duress he was under.

Jameis didn't do anything different than Rodgers did last week. Given all the adversity surrounding this program , we were due for a good L.

But don't make this about Jameis and go attacking him.

That OL was garbage
The targets weren't there
Kamara barely cared to be bothered with getting tackled today

And Sean followed up his greatest coaching display with arguably his worst.

The QB preforming well is the output , Blocking , Running game , Viable targets and good playcalling are the inputs.

No QB in NFL history would've won us that game with what Peat was doing out there today. None !

Jameis was bad. But even if he was good, we still lose. The OL was historically bad in pass protection today.

There should be many more threads about how Ruiz and Peat blocked air and ended most passing plays on their butts the entire game. The O-Line was hilariously bad.

If you have a sick sense of humor, I encourage you to watch some "highlights" and focus on the interior O-Line the whole time . Wow. Ruiz and Peat should have been benched by halftime.

When you have to make excuses for a player maybe it's because you know in your heart they need defending because there is some truth to their reputation.
I think the jury's still out. After re-watching some of the passing plays I want to be less hard on Jameis - OL provided no protection at all. There were some bad overthrows though.

Of course there's some truth to his reputation....but really, what other choice do we have? Last season and this preseason provided evidence that Taysom's not the answer. Start Ian Book? Siemien? Like it our not, he's our best option.

Post of the day.

Welcome to Week 2 of the NFL. It is always has been and likely always will be a complete fecalshow.

Some people act like they expected Jameis to never throw another interception again. But why would they think that.

Out of all the things that went wrong - I'd put the INTs near the bottom of the list.

To me, it's more concerning with how quickly the offensive line can collapse, how injuries have already proven to be catastrophic (you know they're coming... every year... like clockwork... but you can't do anything to stop them), Kamara's stat line, copycat gameplans from upcoming opponents, our paltry receiving options (besides JJ, I couldn't pick any of them out of a lineup).

For now, there are so many more areas of concern than picks.

But the entire organization needs a few more weeks to get the coaches back, get everyone home and get a couple of normal weeks under their belts. They need to get situated.
