N/S Jaguars Plan On Signing Tebow (Update: released) (1 Viewer)

Yeah, me saying he’s trash was a bit harsh. Fact is it’s more lucrative to develop talent than give those reps to a vet with no ceiling.

I’ve read rumors of GMs calling former stars to gauge them playing a year (mostly QB’s) but these were guys who were good at their position.

Tebow will be learning the TE position this year at 30+

It’s a bad look
They were 1-15 last year. I don’t think they need to worry about keeping up appearances. If Tebow stinks, they can just cut him along with the other 40 players they have who won’t be good enough.

Are some of you missing the point that he hasn’t played pro football since 2015?! I don’t care what CrossFit shape he’s in; Tebow will get his bell rang like a cell phone this season.

The fact that there are current UDFA TE’s who won’t have to learn how to play the position are getting overlooked to usher in a mediocre media darling is shameful.

Had Tebow made this switch while he was still in the league, I’d have applauded it. But here he is nearly six years removed from the NFL and people are acting like this makes any sense.

He’s definitely playing with fire health wise to try such a move at his age.

I think most people understand all that and just don’t think it’s a big deal. At least, that’s how I look at it.

I remember Haslett’s last training camp. He invited the guywho won the Bachelor or Bachelorette reality show. Guy hadn’t been in the NFL for 5 years, promptly blew out his knee like in the 1st practice and absolutely nobody gave a flip.

If Tebow washes out, they’ll just sign somebody else and the world will keep turning.

Like who for instance?...which UDFA TE wont be the 4th TE on the roster that you think knows how to play TE at an NFL level?

I am thinking Luke Farrell aint all that awesome and he still would be the 3rd TE in front of Tebow.

While it's a running joke .....Tebow as a QB.......I've got to give him some credit.

I would think there's alot of QB's that wouldn't mind this resume after their career. I would call him a winner.

1. Two time National Championship QB
2. Heisman winner.
3. Came in to take over starting QB from 1-4 Kyle Orton. He proceeded to lead the Broncos to an 8-8 record, leading them to the playoffs.....and while not doing it the standard way......he led them to victories in 6 games in which they trailed in the 4th quarter.
4. Won his first playoff game vs the Steelers......sealing the victory with a 70 yard walk off TD pass.

It was a flash in the pan, but the man knows how to win.

As far as being a TE, who knows. But no doubt a great person to have around your program.

As far as not playing in years, he went 10 years without playing baseball, then actually made it to AAA in the Mets organization. That alone is pretty impressive.

I'm not going to bet against him.

I wonder if we will see him in somewhat of a taysom role.... perhaps for short yardage

Taysom has what Tebow has not, speed. Probably about equal in the strength dept. Jags trying to generate some interest and Tebow will do that in a big way. meyer might try to get some gimmick QB package ala taysom out of him, I could see that. te just because he has size, jags going to jag.

I hope he makes the team. I hate it when people tell others that they're not good enough to do something. You just can't measure heart.

I agree. If we were talking about a short yardage fb..I'd say he'd be fine. TE is another story.

One win team in 2020 signs local legend to try to help generate interest in upcoming NFL season.

That is how everybody should be reading this signing yet some people want to try to make it more than that.

I doubt Tebow ever makes it past being a camp body, but if you're the Jaguars, he is a camp body that will help build interest for a team that hasn't done anything. 2017 was an obvious fluke. The last three seasons the Jags have won twelve regular season games combined. The Saints have won thirteen regular season games in a single season, three seasons in a row. From 2011 to 2016 the most wins in a season the Jags had was five.

These are the desperation moves franchises with a dead fanbase make.

cause he hasnt in what 5 years? why would he change his mind now.
Kaps bank account or financial portfolio probably generates in interest alone way more than what any NFL team is willing to pay him.

Him coming back to the NFL after making all that money is probably the equivalent of us going back to a job 500 bucks a month after having previously made 5000 a month.

Boy i bet Jacksonville was wishing for the longest time that they spent thier 2017 draft pick on Mahomes instead of Fournette.
