He was OC in Dallas before becoming the head coach and had the second ranked offense in the NFL in 2007 with Romo at QB. Dallas went 13-3 that year.

They had the #1 offense in the league this year.

They're just a stupid football team (which was his fault too)

Odd hire.

I know if I was a wide receivers coach getting my first head coaching job out of the blue, the last thing I'd be doing is hiring an offensive coordinator that was just recently a head coach and was also rumored to be a candidate for the job I now have. No siiiir.

The reason why that move would scare me if I were the Giants is based on his reputation, the fans will turn on him so quick it will make your head spin. Just imagine they struggle the first couple of games, the NY media will be all over the “What did you expect? You hired Jason Garrett, the laughingstock of the league.” Very dangerous move by that new HC. IMHO, he just shortened the leash on his HC career.
