Just saw this report that JPP wont play on another 1 year deal or franchise tag..... Jason Pierre-Paul won't sign 1-year deal: Nobody else is 'doing it with 7.5 fingers' - CBSSports.com

Was wondering what his market value would be like. Yes he had the hand injury but other than that he has had no off the field problems for the Giants. Had 7.5 sacks was on pace for double digit sacks before he got hurt good vs the run and the pass. Graded out 86.2 per PFF on the year which would be 2nd to only Cam Jordan this year for us. The Giants also have to pay defensive lineman John Hankins large contract after he played well this year. They also will probably upgrade their offensive line who were turnstiles in the playoff game @GB. Curious to see what his market will look like. If we really are serious about going all in then this could be the game changing move. If you go back and watch the Dallas games JPP was very disruptive and a big part in the Giants winning those games. Pair JPP with Rankins, Cam and potentially Fairley and you have a dominant Dline. Most would like to see a vet CB but JPP is a great talent.

Thoughts on getting him and what he would cost potentially?

Prior to his injury, the offer on the table for him was 12 million per year. 60m/5 year.

I expect he's going to want at least a 3 year deal. I have nothing to base that from besides the fact he want's a multi-year deal and 1.) you don't see a lot of 2 year deals in the league and 2.) most teams will still be hesitant to sign him because of the injury. His year wasn't bad by any means, but it also wasn't the double digit number he pulled off in 14.

I'd say cost for him will be anywhere from 12-16million per year. I know that's a big ball park, but there are also quite a few pass rushers who will hit the market so I don't think the prices will get too sky high, but I could be wrong. With FA it really comes down to how many teams want him. The bidding war is what gets the price so high (usually, the Saints have come out with just monster deals before that players simply can't refuse).

This is good news! I didn't think JPP would see day 1 of FA, but now I think he just might.

I certainly hope the Saints make every effort to get this guy on board if he is available. I think next year (the 2nd full year playing with his disability) that he puts it all back together and gets back to double-digit sacks.

I want him only if the price is right. Wouldn't overpay for him. He's good, but not great IMO.

I think that's too much. Rather spend that money on a corner.

You'd be surprised how much better our CBs would look if we had a consistent pass rush out of our front 4. JPP would give us that and he's got the upside to be elite

I'll pass, even before the injury he seemed to have disappeared a couple seasons. I think he gets paid more for his name. Rather pay a vet corner our money and draft a top tier rookie if available. Our chance to get an elite pass rusher was last off season when c. Jones was on the market. 2 late now.

If we can't sign one of the top corners I wouldn't be opposed to trying to get Sheard off NE. He can rush the passer and should be a whole lot cheaper

Not anymore I doubt he will be anymore than a pass rush specialist at this point. The injury affected him a lot.

Does he play with a club or just a modified glove? I can't remember. If it's a club, pass. If not, I wouldn't mind him on an incentive based contract. We desperately need someone across from CJ. Who knows if Kikaha is the answer. May never even see the field

JPP missed the last 4 games due to injury. But in 12 games, he had 53 tackles n 7 sacks. And in the last 5 games, he had 25 tackles n 5.5 sacks, n 4 passes defensed along with 2 FF.

Thats a pretty good overall game to me.

He's right, no one else is doing it with 7.5 fingers, because they're not stupid.

Just keep in mind, he had 5.5 sacks in two games.. Bears and Cleveland. I'd have to see the games to see if he really just finally started playing well or if it was because he was going against two horrible offenses with backup QB's.. And he's always had some sort of injury thing going on with him. Luckily not major, but enough to miss games here and there.

I think he is a very good player but I would rather we spend the money that he will be asking for on several players. With any luck we sign maybe an up and coming end in FA and find a good young prospect or two in the draft
