So John Bel Edwards says the games could look very different with one or two unoccupied seats between fans. Why speculate? Wouldn't it be better to say "I don't know, everything is day to day right now"? Just leave it at that. If you don't know, don't speculate. Or....is he sending out a test balloon to see how people will respond?

Well, he even said “I’m just thinking out loud” before saying that whole skipping seats thing. I think that would be stupid and who decides who gets to go to which games. And like Saints fans won’t high five and hug after big plays. What about exiting the stadium? He was just speaking out of his arse with that one.

That's going to be chaotic trying to decide who get seats and who doesn't. Will it vary by game? Be the same for the whole season? Just dumb without more details. Might just be better to play in an empty Dome.

Just my guess, but I think he’s easing everyone into a Saints season that’ll happen but with no fans.

He said something like “I don’t know. Could they sell every other seat or every third seat?” He doesn’t seem to realize that the Saints have already sold over 70,000 seats to every game. I wouldn’t take what he said seriously.

I mean let's get creative. Play in City Park.

It is capitalism vs social distancing. Using the 6' rule that probably 3 seats in between each person. Issue #1 solved. Ok, now who gets to go? Per google for football games the Dome has 76,488 seats. Take that x .25 = 19,122 (my guess at the reduced seating could vary but the method still applies).

Options could be:
1. Lottery - first game all season ticket holders are eligible. After that, the "winners" aren't eligible for games 2-4. Then everyone is eligible again for 5 and so on and so on. Issue # 2 (sorta) solved.

Other hurdles...parking, security, entry, ticket taking, concessions...long list of hurdles.

Point is, it can be done.

You also need 6-foot buffers in front and back, not just side to side. Even though there's a greater distance between seats going that way as opposed to side-by-side, you still need to eliminate at least 2 seats so that .25 figure you have will then have to be multiplied by .33 so basically only 6374 people could go, tops. Also, it's a forking stupid idea. Not your idea but JBE's. There's next to zero chance of it being competently enforced and the literally thousands of times per game that even 6k people would end up going to the bathroom, buying concessions, and going for smoke breaks would make this piss poor attempt at social distancing like putting a bandaid on a decapitation.

Excellent catch on the front/back whiff by me. Yeah, obviously who knows how this plays out but I just can't see the country shut down for 1+ years. Over on the Covid big thread someone pointed out that the original idea of not stressing out our health care system - once achieved - will allow things to open back up. It won't stop the spread but our health system could handle it. Some combination will prevail I think.

Like most politicians, of course! Just STHU is what I would say. Why speculate? Just like Latoya.

I say cancel the entire season. There is too much risk to the players, fans, workers, etc. to play a game.
Yes sir! But you have many in this forum that believe player egos, records, winning for the city....blah blah blah, is more important! Some people are simply shortsighted and extremely shallow minded, when it comes to sports. And for the record, I am a season ticket holder.
