(CNN)Jeffrey Sandusky, the son of convicted sex abuser and former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, has been arrested on felony and misdemeanor child sexual abuse charges, according to court documents from the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The younger Sandusky, 41, faces 14 counts, including sexual assault of a child older than 11, sexual assault of a child less than 16, and a variety of other sexual abuse and child pornography charges.

The charges have offense dates going as far back as March 1, 2013, according to the court documents.

Sandusky was arraigned Monday, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 22. Sandusky is being held in county jail on $200,000 bail, according to the documents.

This whole family is rotten to the core. There needs to be some un-natural selection so that their corrupted genes aren't passed forward.

Is that the one that works for the saints?

No. The person you're talking about is Jon Sandusky. He's an area scout for the Saints.

That's his brother, Jeffery Sandusky. So he is his part of that family.

I'd put even odds on it coming out that he was also abused by his father. The evil that can reside within a person's soul never ceases to amaze me.

Oh I have little doubt of that. You don't just learn those behaviors in a vacuum.

Which makes me wonder about his siblings, to be honest. You can't guilt or convict people by association, but they ALL denied the allegations of being abused and stood by their father. So I don't know.

Jeffery Sandusky was adopted by Jerry Sandusky.

Jerry Sandusky needs to be stood up against a wall and shot, as does anyone else at Penn State who knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it.

adopted son - i thought i heard that on the radio today but it took about 3 articles to find confirmation
Jerry Sandusky, who adopted Jeffrey Sandusky and five other children
i would think this would be more prominent in the reporting

I mostly just feel terrible for the children affected by these two men. No love lost for these sick men.

they should have done that immediately after his trial. I'll bet anything Jerry molested Jeffery.

and here is the issue
yes it is a monstrous crime - but treating them like monsters might not be helpful
-- before going further, i don't want to go down the "what if it was your kid" road. yes i'd go ballistic; but that's not the point

i've researched this before and though numbers are VERY hard to find/trust, it seemed like somewhere between 85-95% of molesters were abused themselves as children - we are just starting to really study PTSD outside of combat trauma, and we'll almost certainly find that a good deal of abhorrent behavior was manufactured in abusive environments

the problem with yelling "monster" is that it seems like it would severely undermine someone's attempt to seek treatment - there has to be so much shame/hate wrapped up in surviving sexual abuse (or most any abuse i would imagine) that admitting it to oneself is going to be hard enough - admitting it out loud (to a therapist or social worker) is going to be much much harder
yes we like to punish, and we like to punish pedos more than anyone- but is that the best way to limit future pedos?

I see your point Guido, and thanks for adding it to that conversation. I think it a very valid topic to bring up. This is really case for the overwhelming majority of criminals who abuse somebody else, whether sexually, emotionally or physically.

For me personally, and I would assume for most, it's just a catch-22 because I feel so bad for the victims of the abuse and the pain that they had to endure at the hands of these abusers. So natural emotions of hate and anger come out because, especially in these sexual abuse cases with kids because they're so innocent.

I'm also don't know what the effectiveness of treatment is for those who have sexually abused children and rapist. Is it effective? I guess I haven't looked into it enough to really know. I only know the popular belief that therapy isn't very effective for sexual abusers and rapist.

PS, I know there are some mental health professionals on the board. Maybe they can add some insight.

Most men will not admit to being molested, Because of the perceived or real stigma associated with it. However, many molesters were molested when they were young. Its difficult to stop the sickness from travelling from one generation to the next.

I think that's where we have to move forward and focus on as a society. All is this is wrapped up in fear of homosexuality and being unmanly. Even though being sexually abused has nothing to do with being homosexual and being manly isn't dependent on being straight. Those that are abused are made to feel guilty, as if it was their fault. And they're made to feel that being abused means they're gay, even though the two aren't connected and even if they happen to be gay, there's nothing wrong with it.

We have to remove the stigma of abuse and the shame that comes with it to encourage people who have been abused to come forward and get treatment before it gets to the point where they engage in this type of behavior.

Also, I have no numbers to back this up, but common sense would tell you that the overwhelming number of people that are sexually abused as kids do not go on to become pedophiles. I don't want my responses to be taken that way.

He adopted 5 kids? Did he have any kids of his own?

Man, the odds of him abusing them all is high. It's like he picked his victims.
