Interesting analysis. His explanation starts at the 4:58 mark.

Pierre Thomas never did anything special with the ball in his hand tho

Pierre Thomas was situaltionally special but he couldn't jhold up week in week out due to his size. He got dinged up and beat up pretty quickly if you tried to give him the whole load.

But he was pretty special for a UDFA and situational player.

I still say Pierre Thomas has GOT to be better than Cadet. I just can't believe otherwise.

It took Payton a year to recognize Pierre's talent and slowly work him into the offense. (totally lost my patience waiting for it to happen!)

I think Lasco is about where Pierre was at this point in his career, and could be as good as Pierre some day.

We have a hall of fame quarterback. We will pass, even Jim Mora would pass.

They cut him for the same reason he is no longer in the NFL.
He didn't look bad at all in Washington last year, averaging 4.7 YPC and caught 9 passes for 84 yards. I just think he has the 30+ year old running back stigma attached to him.

Did Mora have any special RB's? Maybe Hilliard played for him?
Rueben Mayes & Dalton Hilliard. He also had Bufford Jordan and then Craig Heyward, both were bruisers.

That's the downside of it.

Every year there's an UDFA who's very talented.

They make the team, but end up on the inactive list. They normally play towards the end of the year, or the following year.

Early in his career with the Saints I heard that he had a very difficult time recovering between games. I'm not sure how true it was but it was someone who would know that told me. Maybe this issue is durability week to week. If he were worth it I'm sure he'd be on a team. Maybe vet minimum or his own pay standards make him too expensive.
