He's been sick for a while, but at 98 he's had a wonderful life that included 4 years in the White House. Godspeed to President Carter as he enters this stage of life.

“After a series of short hospital stays, former US President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team,” the statement said.

Sad, but not surprising in anyway
Truly one of the great humans ever
Unfortunately great humans don’t seem to make great presidents (nor is the inverse true)

All I know is that it’s 87% certain that we’d be 500% better off if we had listened to jimmy

I have noticed that most Presidents who live well beyond their terms turn out to be fascinating people who aren't nearly as bad as their presidency.

As a human being, I always liked Carter. He's just a genuine, caring dude through and through. Certainly a life well-lived.

Carter is the only President in my lifetime that I truly respect as an honourable human being.

He was dealt a bad hand when he took office, largely from holdover problems that originated with Kennedy and were made worse by Johnson and Nixon, and he just didn't have the skills to deal with the problems he faced while President, but he is a great and honourable human being who has done a lot of great things for humanity in his life. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Yeah, for sure. His work with Habitat for Humanity was nothing short of legendary. The world needs more people like Carter.

He was also well ahead of his time by installing solar panels on the White House roof- which Ronnie Reagan promptly had ripped off after he took office .. Rest well, whenever the inevitable happens, President Carter .

ETA i had an aunt recently who entered hospice- and then went back home a few days later.. If anyone could pull something similar, seems like Pres Carter could do it .

He’s in hospice at his house

Godspeed President Carter. At age 95 you were building homes for those who had no home. The Allman Brothers backed your run for president. Those two things alone put you in the hall of fame in my book.

Oh, and there's that Bachelor of Science degree from the US Naval Academy.

You win. Peace and Blessings on your Journey

His life is one of the finest examples a follower of Christ can set for others. It’s a shame that more don’t try to adhere to Christ‘s teachings as Carter has. He is an amazing person IMO. I also drool over his master woodworking skills.

His is a live lived amazingly.

Well said.

also thought carter a bad prez but a good man

then i learned from my neighbor, a gentlewoman who grew up with jimmah, that he wasn't so good after all

subsequent anecdotal stories from trusted firsthand reports confirmed the tarnish

i do know he's a genuine hero from the early days of nuclear accidents

he also was the guy who should've received the '78 nobel for peace

on balance, i'm going with good man
