NFL Draft Joe Burrow (2 Viewers)

College success does not translate to NFL success and that applies to the quarterback position more so than any other position. I'm not saying he will not be successful but there is no guarantee he will be. There will likely be late first, second and third round qb's who are as successful or more successful. I'm happy that Mickey and Jeff are picking players because they have no loyalty to LSU. Six qb's were picked before TB. Drew was a second round pick. Mitch Trubiskie was picked was picked second. Joe Montana was picked in the third round. Ryan Leaf was a number 2 pick. Jarmarcus Russell was a number one pick. High draft picks are limited when you have a winning organization. Positions that do translate from college to pro is kickers defensive and offensive linemen.

Will Burrow pull a Manning? Can he forego the draft like Collins did with Dallas? I personally wouldn’t care if I went 1st overall if it meant I could choose where I’d play.

he’s going 1st overall to the bengals or 2nd to the dolphins at this point. Lord help him if he goes to the redskins.

I feel bad for these kids coming out that have their careers destroyed by perineal loser teams.

Collins did not forego the draft. When he wasn't selected by the end of the 3rd round he let it be known that if a team drafted him after that then he would not sign, sit out a year and re-enter the draft the next year. I seems teams believed him and so he ended up undrafted and signed with Dallas.

Pretty sure I was way wrong about Joe Burrow's draft placement. Amazing what a real coach can do for a player.

We managed to overcome the rickey williams trade rather quickly, so I say go all in for Burrow. He is by far the best pro style prospect this year and would be a big draw for ticket sales. Many people from Baton Rouge and surrounding areas aren’t really into the Saints. This would help increase the fan base. I know many would say well we don’t need them, but I say the more the merrier.

If there was a create-a-player for SP's offense it's Burrow and that is factoring in physical talent, football IQ, reaction/decision making speed, coaching, leadership, confidence and grit. And before comments rain in about his arm strength, if there is anything we have learned over the last 14 years is that you don't have to have the strongest arm, you have to know the offense and be accurate.

There is a piece of trade value that everyone seems to forget and that is Teddy. Everyone just assumes we would just let him walk in FA. He's a 27 y/o experienced QB who has earned a starting job in the right situation. The FO can franchise tag him and trade him to a team that needs a starter who might not want to go with a rookie. Colts, Panthers, Chargers, Bucs, Dolphins, Bengals and Bears all come to mind as they either don't have a QB or there are questions surrounding if their current QB is their QB of the future. The Bears gave 2 1sts+ for Mack who disappears in games, would those picks have been better used on a consistent QB?

On the surface it may seem that we don't have what it will take to move up and grab Burrow at #1, but it is not impossible and it may take more than one trade to do it. Some options are trading into the middle of the 1st which a franchise tagged TB would easily have that value. So we could accumulate draft capital and them move up.

Another option is do the Bengals really want to go with a rookie? They have WRs, TEs, RBs and their defense has talent. They lack a QB and offensive line help. TB, 2020 1st and 2021 1st would be enough to move move up to #1. In that scenario, we really only give up the 2021 1st.

If there was ever a Saints team that could withstand trading draft capital to get the QB of the future, it is this current team due to how successful the FO has had over recent years in the draft and UDFA finds.

We can't get Burrow, period. No chance. None. Sorry!

Burrow will make Cincinatti great again.

And Tom Brady was selected 199 overall in the sixth round.

I hope 31 teams think like you.

Let's just hope he doesn't end up in Atlanta or Tampa. I think Atlanta is gonna be just out of reach. Serves them right for messing up the Marine Corps Birthday and beating us in the Dome!

I’m not too worried about the Failcons getting him, they’re already deep in debt to Matt Ryan’s new contract.

And with his Ohio and The Ohio State University background we can pick up fans in that area. They already say "Who Dey". Lol

The Saints traded their first round, third round, fourth round, fifth round, sixth round, and seventh round picks in the 1999 NFL Draft, and their first-round and third-round picks from the 2000 draft to the Redskins to move from 12th tothe fifth overall pick. We'd be trying to move probably 30 to 32 down to #1. WE DON'T HAVE THE CHIPS, unless you don't want to draft at all for the next 2 to 3 years.

Also, we can't bet on another Deuce falling to us in the draft like what happened to save us from the mistake like we made with Rickey Williams.

He has a point. Burrow has spent little to no time under center this season, something that can be overcome, but isn't a sure thing to do.

But there is so much buzz around him and his value is so high, even if I'm not sold on him, if I'm a GM I draft him and entertain offers. I just don't think you bet the farm on any QB - absent a time machine. And if I had a time machine, I'd just go back in time and bring a young Drew Brees back with me!

EDIT: Nevermind. If I stole a young Drew from the past I'd be changing history and our Super Bowl win. Bad idea! I need another cup of coffee!
