Quick hits from New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton’s Friday afternoon news conference:
1. In order for a team to have a good running game, receivers have to block well in addition to the offensive line. Payton said that Willie Snead IV and Brandon Coleman blocked well against Seattle, with the Saints running for 123 yards on 35 carries. “They were two guys that did a real good job last week,” Payton said. “They’re guys that understand the force pattern, and then they understand technique.”
2. San Francisco’s defense is last in the league against the run (185.1 yards per game) and in points allowed (31.3). But linebacker Ahmad Brooks remains a force in his 11th season, with 2.5 sacks and three passes defensed. “He’s very good,” Payton said. “He’s got real good instincts.
