Inquiring minds want to know; what did he do to get his license suspended in the first place? DWI/DUI/pot possession immediately come to mind, but there are probably some other more serious traffic offenses that could result in a suspension.

So could forgetting to renew your registration or pay a ticket. Why is your first thought the worst?

Also, of note. Louisiana was the first state in the union to have a digital license. Things that you would never expect to happen in Louisiana for $500.

If a former pro bowler/network commentator gets busted for DUI or simple drug possession, it usually makes the news. I don’t recall any of this happening to Vilma.

Every other state needs to get their stuff together and catch up with the times. It’s 2025 and we’re supposedly in the digital age. There’s no reason we need to have a physical ID in this day and age.

If that's the worst thing he's done (and hopefully ever does), then he's still good with me.

It's actually easy to forget to renew a DL and/or a license plate sticker. You can't just tap an app and it magically affixes itself to the plate. Gotta put forth an effort!

Renew your DL for as long as the law allows in your state. Mississippi only recently began allowing people to renew it for longer than just four years. Also, here, you have to renew your plate sticker every single year and it's based on the alleged value of the vehicle. Perhaps the board can help me here, but Louisiana is every other year (which is of course better) and it's a flat price, not an "ad valorem" deal.

Only if you get special plate the it goes by value.

in feb 2009, he was arrested for reckless driving and felony obstruction. charges were dropped where he agreed to make a donation to a local hospital.

I wasn't assuming the worst and never suggested that he had any of the more serious offenses. Just wondering what other type of traffic offenses could also result in a suspended license in Florida. Nothing more than that. FWIW, I like Vilma and don't want to see anything bad happen to him.

He was arrested in 2009 for reckless driving and resisting arrest. He may (speculation) have accumulated one too many speeding tickets.

Uhhhh... Hold on a second. The LA Wallet app says hold my beer. It can do most of that (obviously it can't place the sticker). But these days, when they say there's an app for that, plenty of times it's true.
