MORE OFTEN than not, I try to inject some of my own opinions into my column. I do my best to make it very conversational and something different than the conventional sports story. I think that’s kind of the point of a column.
But this week, I’m not going to do any of that. This week, I’m going to talk about the New Orleans Saints, but I’m not going to fill this space with my thoughts on their season. I’m not going to write about how I feel about their chances the rest of the season. To borrow a line from a popular sports movie: I’m not gonna do what everybody thinks I’m gonna do, and FREAK OUT!
No, today’s column is intended to reach those Joe Friday types – just the facts. Because I know how many Saints fans feel. I’ve heard many a tale about how the team is cursed, and this and that. So in an effort to keep from jinxing what they’ve got going, here’s what the Saints have been able to do so far in 2009:
