It doesn't make sense how this has been the case for a long time. We are blitzing a lot, but the pressure isn't getting there.

I can only believe the reason has to do with the caliber of players going at the passer. Not enough speed, not strong enough, not enough awareness or something.

They have to learn to rush together. Rankins talked about it. We've had so many missed sacks/ escaped pocket sacks because guys weren't playing off of each other in the rush game.


Guaranteed we've had like 8-9 sacks just slip through our fingers. They are still learning to work off each other so they don't end up in the same lanes...some of them just aren't finishing.

We don't have the talent. Jordan is a heck of a player...one of the best 5-techs in the league. We also have capable pass rushers at DT in Rankins and Fairley.

But we don't have much talent as the position most responsible for a pass rush...Jack. Kikaha was an enormous loss, and a premier pas rusher to add to our defense is a prior next offseason. We also don't have much talent coming from the second level. Anthony has potential but he's not good enough to be on the field. Otherwise, our LBs are void of blitzing ability. Vaccaro is a nice blitzer, but he is all we have on the third level in regards to a pass rush, and he's needed in coverage.
