Just giving a little P.S.A.

Louisiana Department of Revenue has been up to their old games and holding back tax refunds. Since state refunds tend to be a lot less than the federal refunds, i guess people forget about the $400 sitting out there and owed to them. So MAKE SURE YOU DONT FORGET!

I have had a few cleints and friends mention how they havent gotten their refunds and they filed the first week of February. One called and the state told them that since he moved, it was part of their "FRAUD PROTECTION" to make sure they held the refund until he could confirm his new address...which is a total crock since he had direct deposit, so address was a moot point.

Anyway, they will likely tell you something like..."it is under review" or "i am waiting for my audit specialist to release it." etc. etc. etc. Again, all loads of crap as you will then magically get your refund within a few days of making that phone call.

I would suggest that if you are one of these people whose refund is being held up, when you call, i would without a doubt voice your displeasure with their antics...otherwise, i dont see how they dont get worse with their games.

FYI, here is the phone number... (225) 219-0102

The state is keeping everyone's refund this year to fund the CCC lights @ $45 a day.

Funny, never had this problem before the governor outsourced the Revenue Secretary with a hand picked "Executive council" being paid twice a much.

My brother filed over a month before I did. I got mine back within two weeks and he was still waiting for his. There's no real rhyme or reason to it.

Filed 3 weeks ago. Got Federal back within 10 days. Still no sign of the State Tax. Guess I'll call about it in a week or so.

I had some clients who filed the first couple weeks in Feb just get their refund, I filed my personal one and received the refund within 2 weeks.

I can't figure out any rhyme or reason other then there was a delay in processing returns that were filed early.

I've also had clients get the "fraud protection" letter. No clue how they decide who gets those, but pretty simple process to get the money.

State always likes to screw around like this

No claims were processed until the end of Feb. while a fraud detection process was implemented. A 3rd party fraud process reviews claims and then returns a list of possible fraudulent claims to the dept.

Someone wants to get rid of state personal income tax and increase sales tax. Suddenly there are hoops and delays in claims processing. Do the math...
