another mock draft having the Saints take Rivers. I've never heard of a NFL player being able to play MLB and S. thought if you could play NFL LB and S, it would be SLB.

10. Saints

Keith Rivers, OLB, USC: I think the Saints should take Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie here if he's available, but I'm hearing they love Rivers' motor and leadership qualities. He can play inside or outside linebacker, and he even has the athleticism to drop back and play safety. Scott Shanle and Scott Fujita are two of my favorite guys in the league, but they could use some help. Rivers would make an immediate impact. He's falling in other mock drafts. But not on my watch.

maybe my hangover but it almost seems like this guy forgot we picked up vilma

Whatever happen to taking a S with the first pick. Because I think Bulluck is still back there.

One of his favorite guys in the league is Scott Shanle. That's all you need to know about this guy's personnel evaluation skills. Give me a break.

I don't think there's really any rule of thumb, but Urlacher was a LBer/S coming out and he is, as we all know, a MLB.

In fairness, he said favorite guys, not favorite players.......:idunno:

Sorta like Thomas Davis was, that da putty-tats took after we hijacked Jammal Brown from them. :)

I think it's Rivers also. DRC will be gone.

I'm not real high on either of them. If the Falcons dont get Dorsey at #3, we have to trade with Kansas and get him.

If Rivers and DRC are both there at #10, and we didnt trade up to get Dorsey or Ellis (which would piss me off), I guess I'd take Rivers over DRC. DRC was projected to be a 3rd rounder before the Senior Bowl, then he had a good Senior Bowl performance and was a workout warrior at the Combine and now he jumps from a 3rd rounder to possibly being drafted at #8 by the Ravens????? CRAZY.

Rivers is solid, it'll help out our front seven. I say put him in fujitas spot, and let scott ride the pine.

If we can't get Dorsey or Ellis (they should be gone), then I say take Rivers or trade back. No DB in this draft is worth the 10 pick IMHO.

Keith Rivers or Ryan Clady have to be the pick at #10 if Dorsey, Ellis, and McKelvin are off the board. A #10 pick is making starter's money and needs to start from day 1 on the team. DRC might not even be ready to start NEXT season.

Dan Morgan is not a long term solution at LB. He is an injury looking for a place to happen and has too many health issues to depend on. Adding Rivers would give this team a stable, solid starting LB group for the first time since the mid to late 90s. And if all the CBs are off the board when they pick at round 2, if Dan Connor is there, I wouldn't mind taking him too. THAT would bring this LB group from so-so to top 5 in a hurry, and could set this team's LBers at that spot for the next decade.

i would take ANY potential first round DB over rivers at ten ....

If Sedrick Ellis and Glenn Dorsey are gone and we decide not to trade up, we should take Kenny Phillips. He will be a better player in the NFL in three years than Mckelvin, DRC, Jenkins, or Rivers.

What I would LOVE for us to do IF WE DONT TRADE UP for Dorsey or Ellis is to draft Clady at 10. That would allow us to trade Stinchcomb to someone for a 2nd Rd pick. (I think he is worth this much) This would immediately upgrade our lackluster running game and would give us another early pick. Thoughts?
