NFL Draft Kenneth Murray LB Oklahoma (1 Viewer)

Linebacker may be the priority as we speak right now. So it's worth to take a look a the prospects.

I love Murray and would not be mad if we take him, the only problem is that he is very similar to Davis. Maybe we need a bigger man to play the SAM.

And according to Daniel Jeremiah, Zach Baun of Wisconsin can do well everything that Kyle Van Noy does. He actually thinks he is ideally the best pick for the patriots.

I wonder if he would not be a better option to replace Klein. He is bigger then Murray, he can blitz and cover.

You can't go wrong with a lineman, LB or RB from Wisconsin.

+1
I’ve been looking more and more at Baun, and the more I learn the more I like him as a prospect. He’s a strong pass rusher, and he has the ability to play the SAM. I like the comparison to Clay Matthews Jr coming out of USC.

Some compare to being a Demario Davis type LB'r, could this be our first pick? Thoughts?

FatCitySaint, I am not trying to hijack the thread. Sorry about that. I just posting another option, but would be very happy to have Murray.

As for Murray, I like him a lot too. Murray is more athletic than Demario Davis IMO. I think would make an excellent MIKE

I would think it would not be a bad idea to get him to play MIKE, since we can't trust a full season of Anzalone.

But it seems that the staff is happy with Ellis. He may be a starter at the position in the near future.

For a while I have been of the view that LB (Murray, Queen or Baun) would be a great option in round 1. While I know we need a @2 WR, I believe that position group is so deep that we could pick up one in round 3 that could contribute immediately. Also, with Peat being signed I don't see any way we go OL in round 1, which I had thought could be a possibility if Peat left.

I am not sure which LB I would want the Saints to select, assuming all three are still on the board at @24, but IMO any of the three would really upgrade the defense immediately.

I've watched a few game tapes on Murray... he's a guy I'm not sold on. I question the Play diagnosing, and Instinct side of his game. Yes he's explosive, and fast going in a straight line... and he's a heat seeking missile tracking down a Running back right in front of him... but his aggressiveness led him to over-pursue and overrun a lot of plays as well; and he's also not great laterally, change of direction wise.

Also he has questionable Coverage skills, he has 0 career Interceptions, and only 6 Pass Defenses in 3 seasons as a starter, playing in the Big 12 where they pass a lot.

If we're dead-set to go Linebacker in Round 1 I'd prefer Patrick Queen, even though he has less starting experience I think he has a more natural feel for the position and better instincts.

Wouldn't mind these options. Murray (from the video) looks like he can make quick reads and react even faster.

My question is, how good is Michael Hodges in developing the LB talent we pick up from the draft?
