The final New Orleans Saints training camp-style practice showed off what has been the major storyline of the offseason: the defense is improving.

The often-criticized unit excelled in a series of team drills involving fourth-down situations during Wednesday's practice at the team facility. Fourth-year safety Kenny Vaccaro received his turn as the headliner in those drills to continue an overall uptick defensively.

Vaccaro picked up two possible sacks (we don't really know because no one is hitting Drew Brees) on blitzing situations and at least one pass breakup on Coby Fleener during the drills. Even if the first play wasn't a sack, undrafted rookie corner De'Vante Harris cleaned it up anyway by swatting away a Brees offering to Willie Snead deep downfield.
