But once that was over the real work began. And, it has been quite a sight. Never under the Mora regime did this kind of teaching go on. These coaches spend time on any and every thing you could possibly imagine. Constant work on containment. And constant teaching on angles, and how to keep those quarterbacks in the pocket. Constant detail into how the plays and formations are set. And constant teaching of players as to why the detail is so critical. When a player goes in motion for this team, it is vital that he makes his move at the exact spot he is supposed to. Sometimes, even one step can throw the whole play off. Drew Brees throws to spots on the field, and players are constantly challenged to get to those spots. They also are taught how to get to those spots.

Excellent read.

Sorta says what many who understand the game already knew:

There is far more going on with this group than just key acquisitions, even though they are a major reason for our success.

Great article. I had read somewhere a few years back where someone said that the reason NFL coaches fail is because they and their coaching staff just aren't good teachers. I agree with this. You could have the best offensive or defensive mind in the game, but if you're not able to teach players the little details then you won't be successful.

Kenny's been saying stuff like this before every training camp he's ever covered. Not saying I don't believe him in this case (the proof is in the on-field performance), but hyperbole seems to be such a staple of his jargon that it's hard for me to take him seriously.

In the modern NLF, with free agnecy - it is important for coaches to be great teachers as well.

Three cheers to Saints Staff!!

"Mora's teams weren't this detailed. Haslett's surely weren't. And Ditka's teams? Let's be nice and leave ole Mike alone."

Lets be nice. LOL

Gives a little more insight into the Stallworth deal. If he wasn't taking to the constant teaching by Curtis. Colston surely was.

This type of stuff is just so refreshing..
