I just watched it with open arms because it is sci-fi. I really enjoyed it. I should've re-watched Skull Island and Godzilla prior just for a re-hash, but I don't think it would've been necessary.

If you mean by enemy, the highly militaristic, "officer's clubs" societies-dominated, territorial-expansionist, ultra-nationalist pre-WWII Japanese government and its high-ranking politicized officer corps, then I suppose, Godzilla would be a frightening, terrifying weapon for the Japanese to teach arrogant, Western "devils" a lesson in proper modesty, humility, and adherence to morally and ethically superior Bushido warrior culture.Does Kong fight for America while Godzilla fights for our enemies?

I was actually buzzing through this thread to check on this as I haven’t seen the others. I don’t mind watching any other movies if it adds to the experience. Does it totally stand on its own, or would other movie(s) be recommended to watch first?
