KMSS in Shreveport showing Dallas this week (1 Viewer)

This. I guess it would help the Shreveport Saints fans if it was the “Louisiana” Saints. But it’s not.

Shreveport to Dallas - approximately 190 miles.
Shreveport to New Orleans - approximately 325 miles.

It’s a dammed if you do, damned if you don’t proposition for the networks.

It's more about the TV coverage area. The station covers east Texas. This map shows the last time there was a conflict. The yellow is the Saints game. The red is the cowgirls. You can see the bleedover into Texas of the Saints game. That's the problem. In south lousiana there's a nice border there. I've heard there was a time when that wasn't the case and they had these same issues down there.

The reverse of that shows a large chunk of our state not getting the Saints game which should be unacceptable to all Saints fans.

You can’t put stateline ‘boundaries’ into what’s going to be telecast. Most local TV affiliates have little say in the matter. The bigger picture is more about;

• home market station
• regional interest, and
• national importance

Here’s another example;
Pensacola is approximately 200 miles from New Orleans. Although P’cola is located in the state of Florida, P’cola networks cover Saints games.

Pensacola is approximately 450 miles from Tampa, which is also city in the state of Florida, but does not get Tampa games.

As someone who lives here I can say that's definitely an overstatement of the situation here. Maybe pre-2006. It's a different story now. Go on the KMSS page anytime they show the Saints over the Cowboys. The few complaints they have are always from people who live in Texas. It's true east Texas is in their coverage area. It's unfortunate that they can't get one of the East Texas Fox Stations. I posted some pictures from the Shreveport Academy last year when the topic came up.

Yea I live here and grew up here. It’s 85% Saints fans. We only “popped-up” after Katrina because before we had to drive to Ruston or listen to conflicting games on the radio.

easT Texas is such a big part of the ratings for fox and ratings are the station’s main concern. I’ve also had lunch with the station manager before and he’s a hardcore cowboys fan who’s told me he wants to play the cowboys Game every time.

FYI I watched all the games from Iraq last year. Just get a VPN and get game pass international in India. It’s cheapest there.
You basically have a $50 Sunday ticket plus all of the all-22 stuff.

Is that the current station manager? This one has only been there a year or two. I think he came from Mississippi. One of their previous station managers came from Texas.

It is more about the overall broadcast area of these stations than it is about the fanbase in Shreveport. Of course there are more Cowboys fans here than you would find in about any other Louisiana city, but that often makes people think almost everyone here is a Cowboys fan.

That is a very bold statement.

;)

I'm 2 hours from Baltimore, DC, and Philadelphia. Whatever team sucks the most seems to get the most airplay from the local CBS/FOX affiliates.

The first conflict this year they showed the Saints. This week is the second conflict and they're showing Dallas. I checked out their Facebook page last time to see if there were many complaints. They had maybe three people..all of them Texas residents in the KMSS coverage area. If you want to help, send an email to the station manager. I told him I'm going to get an antenna that will pick up the Monroe Fox station and use it for all of my Fox watching.

Does Amazon Prime carry "LIVE" NFL games or is the replay BS they show 2 or 3 hours later after game is played ??? If live, do I just put Saints in the search ???

Other alternatives other than going to Walk-ons or BWW or a bar ?? How can I access it on internet ?

Any place just north of Alexandria is not part of Louisiana, as far as football goes. I could not care less. And what does that area of the state, contribute to the state of Louisiana anyway?

Our taxes up here helps keep Saints in New Orleans

Meanwhile all the storms and flooding from south Louisiana help drive up insurance premiums up here. So thanks for your contribution for that.

No help for that ridiculous governor from south Louisiana. Yet another contribution from south Louisiana.

I hope you aren't using any of the tax money from our six casinos, horse race track, and off track betting facility. They're all regulated by Baton Rouge and they make sure they get their piece.
