So now they are going to sue Richards about this. That's just bull. He screwed up, he's apologized. His career is in jeopardy. So why are they suing? Just went from being a racial thing to being a money thing. In a different way, that's sadder than the original issue.

Michael Richards was a few months away from slipping into obscurity and never being heard from again. For that reason alone, the amount of publicity on this story is ridiculous.

Everybody's talking about "oh, would it be the same if Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle did it?" But I think that's the point...they haven't and know better than to. They use race and racism very heavily in both their acts, but they don't use it exclusively in one direction. They're both very self-depreciating, and make light of the racial stereotypes we all know. Is that "white guy voice" everybody does annoying? Yes. But they do that joke, and in Chris Rock's case, turns right around and does a set about "the difference between 'black people' and 'n-words' " and there are a lot of truths in the acts, but none of it's done in a mean spirit, and that's the big difference between what they do and what Michael Richards did. He tried to go off the cuff, and maybe he was trying to be funny, but there's hardly anything funny about how and what he referenced would be done to the two guys 50 years ago. Are they money grabbing? Probably. But they have a valid case, what Richards did was wrong.

Good lord. Now Gloria Allred is involved. All the media whores are out to play on this one.

Allred, speaking by phone from Colorado, said Richards should meet McBride and Doss in front of a retired judge to "acknowledge his behavior and to apologize to them" and allow the judge to decide on monetary compensation. "It's not enough to say 'I'm sorry,'" she said.
