I thought they'd use Anthony as a spy for Newton, but his lack of running attempts pretty much negated that gameplan, if it was in fact the way they were going.

Under the circumstances, they might have anticipated that the Panthers were going to restrict chances of Cam getting hit by limiting his rushing touches. The only designed run I remember was the touchdown, and he only had one other credited rush (that I don't remember).
