Kyle Shanahan has called plays for two Super Bowl teams and has scored exactly 0 points in the 4th quarter (1 Viewer)

I can see San Fran actually, Atl never made a lick of sense until you find out that Matt Ryan cannot audible.

All while the opposition has scored 40 points during those same 4th quarters....

Combined his offense was up by 48-13 in 2 SB games. Insane not to come away with a win somehow.

But the DC of the Niners has to take some of the blame as well. Also, Reid took advantage of Sherman’s age. It showed in the 4th qtr. Sherman is still very savvy. But savvy can only cover for age for so long.

They just said on Golic and Wingo that the Niners were the second team in ten years to lose SB when scoring first. Who’s the other one.....you got it....Failcons. What is the common denominator...

In fairness, didn't they only punt once the entire game?

This just felt more like the better team eventually who won the game, verses an outright choke job.

No, they punted more than once. What surprised me is that Frisco couldn't get its vaunted run game going in the second half. I'm so glad they lost, though.

To only punt once in the game and only score 20 points... think about that for a minute.

When the Saints only punt once or not at all they hang 40 on defenses. I think they were caught up in the whole "let's keep the ball away from Mahomes" thing, and it worked for them for most of the game, but they never thought KC would score 21 points in 8 minutes.

You gotta score on those guys you can't try to play "keep away".

I kept expecting them to run those end-around plays with Deebo Samuel or at least use the threat of it as a way to throw the defense off in the 4th. They were just shredding the defense with that play every time for 10-20 yards a pop, and they totally went away from it in the 2nd half. They went to a much more vanilla offense. Weird.

(13:37 - 3rd) D.Samuel left end pushed ob at 50 for 14 yards (D.Sorensen). KC-B.Breeland was injured during the play. His return is Questionable.

32, 7, and 14 yards. Never saw it again in the game after the very beginning of the 2nd half. Crazy, especially given how many key 3rd and 4th downs the Niners were in.

Frank Clark was talking afterwards about how their play calling and play design masked their talent deficiency at certain spots.

He’s not wrong.

Kittle is great. Samuel and Sanders are good, as is Juszczyk at fullback. Beyond that, their OL is just OK and their RBs are largely interchangeable.

You’re right, Samuel is the one player who was consistently flashing whenever he touched the ball. And then they stopped.
