N/S Lamar Jackson Requested A Trade On March 2nd (1 Viewer)

While Jackson has been his own agent, he has earned $32m for five years of play. Here’s where other starting QB’s drafted since 2018, as of now, slot for first five year earnings:

Josh Allen $85m
Kyler Murray $99m
Daniel Jones $72m

I’m sure Burrow will crush these numbers, and Hurts will get a deal in his fourth year as well. Jackson is taking home $40m less than Daniel Jones for five years of play, and as someone said earlier, he can’t get those years back. It’s especially critical for Jackson to max out his earnings each year given his play style.
That's the difference from being drafted in the top 10 and last in the first rd

The bigger difference is those players getting a deal done in their fourth or fifth years, not listening to the wrong agent and waiting until year six. For example, Allen did make $10m more than Jackson in his first three years, but he made $42m more than Jackson in years 4-5 because he signed a new deal in year four.

Same for Murray, although he made $20m more in the first three years, he made $44m more in years 4-5. Jones was $12m more in years 1-3, but now an additional $25m more in years 4-5.

Hurts, a second rounder, will likely be way past Jackson in first five year earnings by getting his deal done this year.

Seriously? The starting QB of a playoff team just said "nope, I'm not playing in the playoffs"? Never heard of that. That's incredible.

He supposedly had a minor knee injury that kept him from playing the last part of the season, but it was suspect and it seemed like he was just sitting out. Not just fans, but even former player commentators/analysts would elude to it.

A good indicator of how a players teammates view him is to see how he's supported on SM. It's pretty much crickets with the Raven players about Lamar.

From what's been reported, he was offered a 5-year 200M deal with 3 years guaranteed.

Good luck trying to get more than that...
He said that wasn't true.

Good point.

I think the biggest factor is the unrealistic Watson contract as the new target to pursue. This is compounded by a host of other hurdles - injury concerns, longevity of a running qb, compensation to the Ravens and trying to negotiate on your own behalf. If agents were getting big cuts, I’d understand more, but 2% is a bargain and money wisely spent. As a rookie in a slotted pay scale is understandable, but at this stage get you some responsible representation.
