2016 New Orleans Saints

Offense: 24 – Keeping 4 RBs seems logical to me and Murphy is EASILY our best return man, so he stays. Tommylee Lewis was a hard keep over Lasco, but he helps out more offensively than Lasco right now. If Hoomanawanui is still hurt, Manhertz makes the team.
QB: Drew Brees, Luke McCown, Garrett Grayson
RB: Mark Ingram, C.J. Spiller, Tim Hightower, Marcus Murphy
FB: John Kuhn
WR: Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead, Michael Thomas, Brandon Coleman, Tommylee Lewis
TE: Coby Fleener, Josh Hill, Chris Manhertz
LT: Terron Armstead, Tony Hills
LG: Andrus Peat
C: Max Unger
RG: Tim Lelito, Senio Kelemete,
RT: Zach Strief, Khalif Barnes

Defense: 26 – Choosing between Richardson, McCain, and Gwacham was very hard, but I believe Richardson brings more to the table as an overall DE and we just traded a 7th for McCain, so we almost have to keep him. If Laurinaitis gets hurt, Anthony takes his spot. As for the final CB spot, I chose Dixon over Harris because of ST ability.
DE: Cam Jordan, Paul Kruger, Kasim Edibali, Bobby Richardson, Chris McCain
DT: Tyeler Davison, Nick Fairly, John Jenkins, David Onyemata, Sheldon Rankins
OLB: Stephone Anthony, Dannell Ellerbe, Michael Mauti, Nate Stupar, Craig Robertson
MLB: James Laurinaitis
CB: Delvin Breaux, P.J. Williams, Cortland Finnegan, Ken Crawley, Brian Dixon
SS: Kenny Vaccaro, Roman Harper
FS: Jairus Byrd, Vonn Bell, Eric Harris

Special Teams: (3)
LS: Justin Drescher
K: Connor Barth
P: Thomas Morstead

Practice Squad: (10)
RB: Daniel Lasco
WR: Jake Lampman
OL: Landon Turner
OL: John Fullington
OL: Jack Allen
DE: Davis Tull
DE: Obum Gwacham
DT: Ashaad Mabry
LB: Jeff Schoettmer
CB: De'Vante Harris

Injured Reserve:
CB: Damian Swann
LB: Hau'oli Kikaha
CB: Kyle Wilson
TE: Michael Hoomanawanui

Don't keep either kicker and put Lasco on the team so he isn't grabbed. Once all teams have made their cut then decide who to move to PS to get a kicker on the roster.

Lasco, D. Harris & Gwacham would not make it through waivers.

I say
Grayson on waivers - PS if clears
Dixon on waivers
E. Harris on waivers - PS if clears

Lasco contributes greatly to ST - He makes the 53
D. Harris & Gwacham on the 53

If we cut Gwachum to keep McCain, we are making a mistake.

Gwachum has a higher ceiling and already has 2.5 sacks this preseason. He's flashed enough to keep developing.

McCain is a STer to me. Just cut him and keep the 7th for next year's draft. It was conditional.

McCain was traded for a conditional 7th. So if we cut him we keep the pick, correct? I don't think Lasco, Turner, Gwachum, or Harris would clear waivers for the PS.

Is it possible we go with 1 less OL (say, cut Tony Hills) since Barnes can play LT? He could be the utility/swing lineman. Not sure if we've ever gone into a season with 6 OL though. But Hills was signed during the season last year, wasn't he?

gut feeling we will have atleast 1 player on final 53 that is not currently on roster. would not suprise me if we look for a true blocking TE.

I am just not seeing Tony making the team seems redundant if we keep Barnes.
Also I think Lasco will make it over Murphy.

Almost kept Cadet instead of Murphy, if Murphy fumbles early on I could see them still making the switch and picking up Cadet of the street. The toughest cut to make was Bobby Richardson. Is he PS eligible?

We have a very weak group of TE... Khun and A. Johnson are much better than keeping 4th TE that don't add a value to the team .. but this what I think, it doesn't mean is the correct thing to do or what you should select.

I will not be surprised if we kept only five offensive Linemen out of what we have right now once we find a better replacement after cuts.

I think we pull the ole "no kicker trick" again this year. Like mentioned above, we cut them both and wait for all the other teams to get their 53 set and drop a vet to get a kicker right before the 1st game. This also allows us get that vet back after the 1st game with a contract that is week to week and not fully guaranteed.
