It was in the year 2000. 10-6 4th seed.

Saints lost in 2nd rd but guess who was at the superbowl. Sean Payton as the offensive coordinator of the giants calling the plays. He lost to the RAVENS. Could he have his superbowl rematch? Is it too early to talk about the superbowl? This superbowl is in Miami in 2000 it was in Tampa Both in Florida.

So we have to remember eventhough Payton is the Headcoach he is use to the playoff atmosphere.

I had to accentuate the "2nd rd" because of all the hate for the mistake.

We didn't lose in the first round. We won our first ever playoff game remember?

But yeah point taken. Payton knows whats up.

hate to break it to you , but we won in the first round

Yep, we won that game. It was the day after my wedding in New Jersey and everyone was snowed in. My new wife and mom and dad watched the game in our hotel room and went crazy when Az muffed the punt.

Can someone reminisce AND get all the facts right, just once?

"It was 2004 when all we needed to do was beat Tulane to get into the Sun Bowl after dropping 3 straight in Metro Conference play"

"In 1976 we went 12-3 but lost our first playoff game to the Chiefs"

"Was it 2001 where Carney missed the safety to win it"

Sometimes i wonder about some of these fans on here that don't know the saints history to well and brave enough to start a thread to knowledgeable one's.

Agreed. If I remember my history correctly, we beat St. Louis (I think we played them last game of season too) and beat by Vikes (34 - 16).

In football i thought we called it. Wildcard, 1st rd divisional playoff. championship.

Wildcard playoff i thought was considered like the scab part of the playoffs and then they acknowledge the next round whatever. It was a typo, to consider my knowledge on this subject as to whether i know if we won that game is absolutly insulting.

FYI i was at the wildcard game.

Wildcard Round (alt. 1st round), Divisional Round (alt. 2nd round), Conference Championship (alt. conference finals), Super Bowl (alt. AFC-NFC title match).

And for what it's worth, considering that that game currently equates to 100 percent of our postseason victories, it'd serve you well to accurately portray it.

He made a mistake. Give him a break. Why are some of you so quick to lynch someone over a simple mistake? Just educate them. The last time the Saints were in the playoffs was 2000 we beat the Rams in the Superdome that first round game. We lost to the Vikings in Minnesota in the Divisional playoffs. Minnesota went on to the NFC Championship against the Giants and were shutout 41-0. Kerry Collins threw 5 tds in that game. That was the year Joe Horn was hurt for the playoffs and Willie Jackson went off in both the games he played.

Don't get so upset superfan, your post, before you edited it, was misleading, you can't blame someone for trying to correct you. FYI, it is:Wildcard, Divisional Playoff, Championship Game, Super Bowl. The first round of the playoffs is the Wildcard round.

Superfan the 1st round is called the Wildcard round. The 2nd round is the divisional playoffs the Saints were the 3 seed in 2000 and hosted the wildcard game against the Rams. We did play the Rams on Christmas eve that year as well. MIke Martz made a comment saying " Well beat them on Christmas then come back here on New Years and beat them again." Well he did beat us on Christmas eve but the loss didnt hurt us it was similar to this year we had everything wrapped up. Those Rams were defending Superbowl chanmpions. I remember sitting in the stands that fourth quarter and watching the greatest show on turf marched down the field at will. I truly believe if Az HAkim would not have fumbled that punt return, Kurt Warner would have drove them down the field and won that game.

Thanx Purvis_Guy, Yes WildCard games are Playoffs, it's for the most part means your going to have to work harder to get near the Elites.
