I didn't see this posted anywhere, but why wasn't there a flag on Evans that play? Sure Latt shoved him, but Evans retaliated and knocked off Latt's helmet. I can see offsetting penalties, but not what was called as only a flag on Latt.

Disagree. Maybe if Evans just shoved back I could see just punishing the instigator, but Evans threw a punch that took another player’s helmet off.

The refs cannot allow that to not be a penalty.

We were playing the New Bradies. We're always going to get the flag in those situations. I didn't really mind it though. Lattimore was in Evans' head the entire game.

Since the beginning of time the retaliatory blow is what is normally flagged. The only time the instigator is the only flag is when there is no retaliation. And that’s fair. You earn not having that second flag by keeping your cool. Evans clearly didn’t do that. Might have been the worst officiating in that game.

I know emotions were high, the players were anxious to play against someone other than their own team, and Lat has a history with Evans dating back to their first matchup, but he needs to learn to control that. Didn't end up hurting us too bad yesterday, but in the future it could result in the difference in the game. Got to be better than that.

I understand wanting to get the instigator, but if you don’t flag the responder then you’re saying that responders get a free hit. You gotta penalize both.

So the refs saw Lattimore push Evans, threw the flag, and then went blind at the moment Evans charged at Lattimore and pushed him in the head/neck area, causing his helmet to fly off?

Boger's crew blew this one. Evans not only initiated but retaliated last with a hit to the head. Wouldn't be surprised to see a fine come in this week.

Hitting another player after the play is over to the point where you knock their helmet off is a penalty. "He started it" doesn't work in kindergarten, and it doesn't work in the NFL. Should have been offsetting penalties.
