As a Mobile resident, I feel a bit embarrassed and a small amount of civic pride in this story. To be honest they did cut down the tree and people had to stop coming to the tree because some people were shooting guns at it. I know where that place is in Creighton and the rumor is that some UMS students put some rubber toy leprechaun up in that tree as a prank and it went from their forward. People were laughing at my hometown big time it was ridiculous. Hell even Kieth Olberman did a side show snippet of this on his show 2 years ago when it came out.

The guy that is the in-studio anchor, Scott Walker, is a friend of mine who is actually from New Orleans, . He and I were in the same frat at Southern Miss. He now works in Orlando.
