Let’s talk about Jameis (w/ Rev Deuce film study) (1 Viewer)

I love the improved mechanics and decision-making. Those are the kinds of things that will generate more long-term success. Anybody can have a good game, but if it comes from improved mechanics and improved decision-making, it’s truly something to be optimistic about.

Nice job from Deuce.

I was never mad @ Rev Duece for his Drew comment. Hell I agreed with him. I think ego brought Drew back in 2020 when deep down he knew he shoulda sat down somewhere. We should be @least 2 seasons removed from the Brees era IMO
I thought when he fell off in 2018... It was clearly time.

Brees in the 2018 playoffs was just struggling and it was sad.

It is one game. Jameis had superior play around him and didn't have to make many plays. He was rarely contested in the pocket, he had a great running game going and he had a few minor mistakes, made some plays and didn't make bad decisions. He did exactly what he needed to do.

Teams will defend us better film of our offensive tendencies become available as the season goes. He will have to carry the team at times. He will be in the position in which he has to make plays for us to win. It will take time to see how he reacts to each step. He will make mistakes and he will have to bounce back. There are going to be big wins and there will be adversity to overcome. That is what it takes to be great, not one game.

Enjoy his performance Sunday and be patient to crown him after a good game and be patient to crucify him after a bad one.

Could be worse. Who remembers when Skip Bayless bagged on Dak Prescott for being depressed about his brother's suicide? I mean, how does this guy still have a job after calling someone suffering anxiety and depression weak because a family member died? SMH!

Anyway- Rev's post about Brees wasn't nearly on that level and was just vocalized frustration (which a lot of us had at that point), which he later explained and apologized for. I like his analysis and glad he puts it out there.
Skip's job is 100% to stir up sheet though. He is a heel on purpose.

Huh... All his targets are undrafted players. There is no fixing that passing offense till we get people healthy and hope that Kenny Stills can provide some quality play.

Our best recievers is a converted WR turned TE and our Return man.... While our "number one" is getting VIP escort service. Then, you got Lil Jordan cannot run routes to save his life out there

Winston deserves the praise, but that is with forgone conclusions he'll have bad games just any other QB. The fact that he made this WR group work in the 1st place with 5 TDs is frankly very impressive.

We had two WR ran into each like it was a three stooges skit on Sunday... We need halp. TQS need to get right. Thomas needs to get locked in on day one.

Not to many teams offense can survive with their 4th WR being their #1.

And the starting center going down in the first series.

But certainly the point of Deuce's video (which is what this thread is about) wasn't to make any declarations about Jameis - he says that multiple times in the video. The point was to look at every play Jameis made and look for his execution to see if there are noticeable improvements from earlier versions of Jameis. Spoiler alert - Deuce concluded that there were (namely with his mechanics/footwork, and his decision making).

So you don't think Jameis had great play around him?

How would you grade the oline play?
How would you grade the play of the defense?
How would you grade the running game?
Those crap receivers were wide open. One of those TD passes to that TE you are slamming was thrown up for grabs, he went up and got it. Another he was wide open and had to make an acrobatic catch. That punt returner was good enough to burn man coverage by a good 4 yards for almost half of our passing yards in one play.

Once again, Jameis did everything he was supposed to in this game which made it perfect.

Is he going to be perfect when the defense struggles, we don't have a running game and we need Jameis to complete 30 passes, not 13? I don't know this. Week 1 was a horrible situation to try and figure out what we have in Jameis for those situations because they didn't come up.

5 years ago we were told by Brandin Cooks that our pass game was missing top end. Sean, in an attempt to keep us viable, changed the offense, pass game in particular. This offense is basically the same offense Josh McDaniels designed for Brady, and now Brady injected it into Tampa, after telling Arians to sit down and shut up.

Short routes, comebacks, slants and ins...flats to RB when necessary and screens etc. Take a shot over the top when you have it. We now have the ability to run this offense and be just as safe as we have been for the past 5 years. Go back and see how Brees interceptions dropped to single digits when Sean installed the change. We have the top end aspect, deep ball threat, to couple with the dinks and dunks.

This is less about Jameis and more about Sean's system. As long as Jameis continues to buy into the system, he will have an enormous opportunity for success...along with allowing him to gun sling when it's open and available.

Basically, Jameis will be doing a lot of Brady and Brees dinking and dunking. It will tighten up, especially in the playoffs, but like Brady throwing those 60 yarders last year....if Jameis continues to have an accurate long ball, he almost guarantees himself success, working with Sean in this system.
