IDK these rumors are flying around the combine now if he can get us a first this year and something else I would be down with it if both first rounders are used to help our defense. A better D makes our offense that much better.

His value right now is higher because he is still under his rookie contract. Teams don't have to pay him a lot money for another year and can keep him for another if they decide to exercise his fifth year option. If other teams do decide to let him go, it wouldn't cost them any. Reason why trade in the NFL is rare is because of the contract players have with their current team. Keeping Cooks another year would only gives us no better than a third or fourth pick for next year.

It is, and there is a higher percentage change that he does not produce next season in the same manner etc, leading to the same guys coming back in here saying, "Why didn't we trade him...?".

Another year older, more wear and tear on the body? No thanks. If you trade him, now is the opportune time. Don't want to trade him, but if he doesn't want to be here, then you have to get 1st round value while we can.
