On summer break from nursing school, and just getting into recreational fishing as a much needed stress-reliever. What are some of the good spots? Don't have a boat, so looking primarily shore-wise. Could also use some tips on bait, tackle, rigs to use, etc.

Mostly have been fishing from the Lakefront. My mom and sis have had good luck from the Bonnabel pier when it was open. Any thoughts on the Marconi pier, or City Park/Bayou St. John in general? What about Bayou Segnette State Park?

My mom and I were at that little park on the Lakefront off of the London Avenue canal this morning and caught this little 17" beauty:

You can probably catch a nice Nissan Altima in Bayou St John.... Try fishing with a spark plug.....
