Has anyone bought one for their kid?

My son is almost 6 months old. It looks like the earlier you get it, the cheaper it is. Is this correct?

If I buy it for my son, is it only $200 for his entire lifetime?

I have one for myself. My only mistake was waiting too late and wasting a lot of money. If you are going to teach him to fish, I would buy it. It something y'all can do together until you're old and senile.
